Description
The melody is played using an Alchemy bass preset called Black Sun. In the right channel are some simple arpeggios played by me using another preset called Digi Chrystal, and the harmony (?) in the left channel is that second track reversed in Audacity. They may have some minor mods to the settings but I don't remember for sure. This is one of a series trying different accompaniments such as doubled tracks or echoing tracks or, in this case, a reversed track, rather than actually writing/playing a proper harmony track.

The image is a cross-section of a chambered nautilus shell which either goes from in to out or vice versa. Photo by Antonio Conceicao.

Thanks Karen
Pretty much everything I do is an experiment, because I don't have a clue what I'm doing. Sometimes the experiments work out well.
Yes, I am well (too); thanks for asking.

Very atmospheric. Swirling synth creates dreaminess, while the lower parts add an air of expectancy. Good one, Richard!

Richard, this is big, rich in texture and really mind-grabbing. I was doing some work at my desk and hit play, then hit play again. A very intuitive musical idea thats well produced!

Interesting work, man! This piece feels very active to me - active and interstellar, like I'm watching the birth of a star or something like that. Nice work - enjoyed!

Which ,incidentally
was the title of Bilbo Baggins journal....although he may have appended an "again".......this is something that would not be out of place in a film of that nature ....mysterious and yet sparkly at the same time......'tis short but you could loop it round again ....in fact that is what I will do...so a download and then a repeat in cubase and a doudle dose will emerge.......cool

Cheers

Chris

I remembered about Bilbo
but too late: when I went looking for an image he turned up everywhere, so I had to take a different tack. Glad you like this enough to double it. It is pathetically short but I have a seven minute track coming up soon which you might like. Thanks Chris.

Alchemy
Some of these monster synths (Zebra is my favourite) have some darn impressive presets, not? And it's such fun to just tinker with them....

Sweet sounding track. Very restful. Floating under sea with the seahorses and the nautilus shells.

I used the Alchemy synth with a preset called DigiCrystal, just one of many, many presets and the possibility for almost infinte variations/modifications. Far too sophisticated for me but I AM having fun. Thanks for stopping by.

Short and Sweet.
A very beautiful and compelling piece. Very well recorded and produced. Your experiment is a giant success. Some might say it's short, but I think you should say what you got to say and move on. Very fresh with a great choice of sounds and textures.
