What They Tell You

Description
In honor of George Harrison's 70th birthday, this modest little MIDI effort of the Applesauce Project does its best to sound like half of the George songs on the White Album. The actual Applesauce recipe is as follows: take three parts "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" to two parts "Savoy Truffle", add to a blender and hit "chop" in short bursts until you have to have them all pulled out.

Lyrics
They tell you they love you
But they don’t know what that means
They tell you be careful,
Until you’re caught in all of their schemes
They tell you be clever,
While undermining all your dreams
But the simple truth, the bottom line is
Better do what they tell you

They tell you be thankful
Then give you things you don’t need
They tell you you’re special
But all you are is fuel for their greed
They tell you they’re sated
When all they want to do is feed
But the simple truth, the bottom line is
Better do what they tell you

Now you might think you’re different
But you’ll learn soon enough that you’re wrong
‘Cos they’re the choir directors
And you’re just singing their songs

You think that they can’t get you
And tell yourself that you are strong
But they’re the puppet masters
And they’ll just string you along

They tell you you’re wonderful
While draining your talent dry
They tell you your perfect
But they can’t look you in the eye
Then they tell you you’re worthless
While slicing off a piece of your pie
But the simple truth, the bottom line is
Better do what they tell you
Yes the simple truth, the bottom line is
Better do what they tell you

What They Tell You
Awesome! A fitting tribute! Artfully done! So much fun to listen while trying to catch all of the tasty nods to George's classics.

I remember getting "Meet the Beatles" and being just blown away by "Don't Bother Me." I miss him!

This is fun. Apart from intro, I can't hear all that much Beatles. OK....now I'm getting it.
Really nicely arranged and produced track. Kudos.

I thought you were gonna totally cover it for a second... But then it takes off and has a mind of it's own. Very cool indeed. Your vocals simply rock man! I will be trying to pay closer attention to your work man. Sorry to have been lax...
