Fantastic combination &mdash 03/01/05 - 08:58:19 AM
Wow, groovy slide guitar! It goes brilliantly with the
synth too. It definitely works for me. I'm thinking it
might benefit from having a section with something
else added to it, to give it a little more variety, but
overall I think it sounds great.

Fantastic combination &mdash 03/01/05 - 11:34:13 AM
oh thanks rebsie. yeah i know what you mean about adding. actually i added a lot. i got many guitars going in there to make it thick...yet skinny. i was going to add voice....but i've done that before on previous blues songs. i just wanted it to be something slightly meditative,,,yet not.
er....actually....i just made it how i thought it should be. i didnt think that much about it till now.
hmmmmm.
thanks!

Delta nightmare. &mdash 03/01/05 - 11:36:09 AM
Sounds like a soundtrack for a song about a delta bluesman who has to finally make good on the pact he made with the devil. Loved it!

The one thing I would say that needs improvement is the high slide notes on the guitar seem to not sound right. (shrugging) not sure if you understand what I mean.

8-7-8-8!

Delta nightmare. &mdash 03/01/05 - 11:39:27 AM
hmmmm..no i'm not sure what you mean. i did some very free sliding around..and hit some sour things..maybe thats what you mean?

i guess no one realizes these songs are completely spontaneous.
so any mistakes i make that are so tiny i usually leave it in.
its part of the song in my mind.

I din't mean that it sounded wrong, or bad. Hope that wasn't the impression I left. I didn't express myself well, sorry.

I'm diggin it &mdash 03/01/05 - 11:36:26 AM
This works really well. Keep going with this piece. You've
got lots of great spaces intertwined with excellent sounds
and panning. Oh to put vocals and harmonies in
here...something cool, like way in the background for
harmonies....don't think it needs lyrics like that of a
story...just some cool phrases.

A melodic hook over the top of this would be icing on the
cake. Cool track!

Brownsville Moan

Stovall's Blues

Blues 92

Smokey. Dusty. Superb! &mdash 03/01/05 - 12:05:37 PM
This is an appealing combination of your ambient music and blues guitar talents. I really like the percussive details you sprinkled throughout. Outstanding production. The piece is uber rich and evocative. It definitely carries me away to a mysterious and imaginative landscape. This is far better than some of the less than effective "professional" instrumental backing I hear occasionally in films. I'm at a loss to suggest any changes.

Paris Texas in space... &mdash 03/01/05 - 03:41:59 PM
Lovely playing. All that sluggish sliding is so rich. What
was that early John Carpenter movie set in space where
the astronauts played C&W all the time? This should ahve
been the soundtrack.

Ambient whiskey drinkers blues &mdash 03/02/05 - 08:30:47 AM
Didn't expect this use of electronic effects, after your very good acoustic blues tracks in the past. But this has such depth and power, and combines the best of your inventive-yet-grounded-in-tradition blues playing with the room-filling aaspects of the modern electronic sound. Sounds absolutely professional, but with way more edge-personality than normal synth music. Like New Age Ambience that chews tobacco and drinks whiskey.

When you quote me, remember that's Del with one L. I haven't been immortalized on a jacket cover since my high school gang days!

also.....i'd like to add: i didnt use any synths in this song. just guitar tracks. i tweaked around with settings on the guitars...and of course i used a drum loop.

Psychedelic blues &mdash 03/02/05 - 09:45:53 AM
Psychedelic electro-acoustic blues. Ray Lynch meets
O'Leary's ghost at Hunter Thompson's funeral and sips
lemonade, exchanging flashbacks. Moody, great sound,
wonderufl balance of frequencies and space and finger
articulations. Excellent production. Sweet and sad and
controlled, all within the bending universe of the Asian
delta.

Beyond Cool &mdash 03/02/05 - 06:32:09 PM
This is a fantastic blend of Wild West, Delta Blues, Cyber
Wasteland, and something else. Very well arranged and
mixed with cool creeping slide guitar and subtle effects.
It most certainly works for me. It's great as is, though
there's probably room in there where you might add
something else and make it even better. Very original feel
to this and I love it.

Dig down deep &mdash 03/02/05 - 06:46:51 PM
I visualize days and nights in the Bayou. Brass shovel in
hand, preparing the foundation for a House of Blues to
which all blues players, living or dead, are welcome. A
foundation of rock. Substantial columns of hard wood. A
ceiling of loosly knit burlap.

Tantalizing.... &mdash 03/02/05 - 07:29:19 PM
all the subtle elements that linger about the slide like smoke. A witty marriage of sounds. I wish that my daysrecently spent snowed in had turned out so well.

Caught yet free &mdash 03/03/05 - 07:03:34 AM
Blues man caught in the perfectly balanced world, sliding
between the walls, asserting roots in the air perfumed by
atomized sweet and clean. You keep you character alive in
the heart of sanitation and come away smelling like a
rose.

Good showcase of talent and creativity here.
Effective blending of different styles. This would
definitely be great on a soundtrack. I love the
artwork, too!

Spooky &mdash 03/05/05 - 11:34:33 AM
The very first part was especially haunting. It did get to be
a little too much of the same as the song went on. I think
if you could put a contrasting bridge in the middle it
would add a great deal to it. But this is another great
example that music doesn't have to be super complicated
to be good.
