Description
A business connection recently introduced me to another pianist named Lori-Ann Speed. Lori-Ann and I got together for coffee and quickly learned we have very similar passions and view points about music - it's all about beauty as an access to spirit. We chose to trade our offerings. Lori-Ann is developing a beautiful meditative concert featuring her piano works and I had the delight and pleasure of hearing this in her home recently. I of course, contributed an Under the Piano session to Lori-Ann. This track is one of the creations I improvised during her session. The mesmerizing ostinato in the piece made me think of raindrops - thus the title.

Beautiful and contemplative, Craig. Subtle, expressive playing and a fine "live" recording. The opening reminded me a bit of the second movement of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor, the Romance, but it developed into a more contemporary styling as it progressed. A much enjoyed 9 minutes of tranquility. Thanks, Peter.

"beauty as an access to spirit."
You have nailed that idea perfectly with this gentle improvisation. It is so nice to hear something that is so straight-forward and uncluttered. Just simple peacefulness. Very nice indeed.

I don't know what to say
Well, perhaps if we are really authentic about music, there is not anything to say. What it gives us lies outside the realm of words. What we say about it is just a clumsy attempt to express what can't be expressed with words. So thanks for listening and not knowing what to say…although what you did say sounds pretty good to me.

Amazing improvisation.
A steady and gentle beat, like rain tapping on a roof. Definitely, some elegant playing from the heart. Thanks.

It seems we live in a world that has largely forgotten the value of beauty. But beauty is important. Beauty is invaluable because in the presence of beauty we are transported into the moment. In that moment all our fear, anxiety, anger and concern di... [see more]
