Fourth Candle
Lovely mellow, old world flavoured piece. Definite non-secular feel but, befitting advent, it has a lightness of touch that provides a sense of hope. I enjoyed it. Thanks, Peter.

Yep, works
That's my biggest recorder yet. I've been motivated to write lots of music that includes it lately.

I really like the ways you weave the voices together on this one. Also you tone is excellent on all the instruments. Will have to replay this in December. Thanks

Some
really lovely sounds here. I had no idea they made recorders in such a big size. Much enjoyed. Thanks.

Has
a strange mix of "pleasing to church goers" + "pagan folky renaissance" to my ears... but I do have quite limited points of reference in some of these departments :) The meandering stepping and harmonising is all well and good.. but I still love those little trills/flourishes, you sparingly throw in here and there, best.

So delicate
These recorders are just wonderful...now and again just ever-so slightly off pitch which gives them such an authentic quality, the air clearly coming from a human rather than a machine. The counter melodies are really interesting in this piece and occasionally set up an unexpected dissonance that keeps me listening for the eventual resolution and provides needed tension, too, in just the right degree or amount. This is a haunting number, Vic, in the best way possible. What a pleasure to hear this kind of music here.

klarity
i always love the clarity you achieve in your recorderings. and a relaxing-yet-engaging composition, well-played as always. the bass recorder is a thing of beauty, in its own bassoonish way. i do hope your neighbor doesn't mistake it for some strange wind-powered leaf-blower. 0x0
