Description
A complete departure for me. I've been listening to a bit of early Cabaret Voltaire and some early Human League too and wanted to do a solely synth track.
Using the wonderful free synth Podloski by U-he all of the sounds except the drum loop and the crash cymbal are presets on the synth.
Just thought I'd try something different.
Hope you like it

Nice!
Tremendous sound Brendan. There's a lot going on here. The panning is most effective and there's a lovely whistling sound coming through the right channel I really like. Nice break from the percussion at the three minute mark. The delays are excellent and it's a good mix.

Early Cabaret Voltaire? Blast from the past. I saw them in the late 70s or early 80s [can't remember] and was blown away. This, however, is far more sophisticated than anything they were doing at the time. Really nice, you should do more like this.

It's worth the download if you haven't got it already.
Funny, the bass sound was the one I was least happy with but thought it worked ok within the song.
Thanks for dropping in and glad you liked it

Thanks
I think most of the panning is actually within the preset.
I don't know how they do it but it's unfair for me to take the credit.
But I'm glad you liked it and thanks for dropping in

Sounds great on headphones. The music drifts around inside your head. I like your choice of presets and overall effect is hypnotic. Enjoyed. Thanks, Peter.

I really like this. Do more of this!! You've got a nice feel for the arrangement - love the way those sounds just whoosh around and the bass is rock solid. Excellent.

nice
those are very cool synth sounds. really nice melody with the siren-like sounds adding a lot of interest to the mix.
nice job on the drums too, that snare sound is pretty cool.
Always fun to hear someone do a change-up on their style and this one is successful! enjoyed.

I like how you establish the opening theme before the drums come in. Cool drum sound. Is there some distortion (maybe a bit crusher) on the drums? Great layers. There's an analog warmth to all the synth sounds. I've downloaded the Podloski and several other free synths while looking for other free plugs. I've toyed with the synths but haven't managed to make any music with them. This here is some really beautiful music.

drum loop
The drum loop is just ClubDanceBeat 045.2 from GB loops.
The song is at 65bpm which may have dragged the sound of the loop down a bit so it sounds a bit distorted.
I ran it through an 8 bit distortion effect towards the end just for a couple of bars.
The synth ( and the other ones from U-he) are great for sounds and I've used them in other songs but this is the first time I've used one synth and its sounds solely for a composition.
Glad you liked it and thanks for dropping in

This sounds very modern to me, I like it's pushy and foot tappy appeal along with the analog or moog type synth that appears throughout. Very cinematic with some dark edges.

Out from the shadows
Interesting feel to this one - a little ambientish electronica, some downtempo moments. The synth sounds great. Really nice use of the soundstage and variety of tones that each have their own space to be heard without creating clutter. Appreciate the dload!

Somehow...
...you have mixed the quiet and serene with the energetic pulse of your bass and it all comes out with a pleasant vibe that is quite original and enjoyable. I think you have effectively used your synth plugins to create a magical place where mysterious creatures exist in the peace and quiet of shadows. (The bass might be a tad too loud in the mix, but that's a small nit.) Most enjoyable track.

great track - love synths
excellent use of space and dynamics- keeping it open and airy when it could easily have gotten crowded having so much fun. Some stuff from that time holds up better than others. I was spinning records the other day and couldn't get behind Yellow Magic Orchestra the way I once did. This is cool.
