Two Friends

Description
I used the chords and sort of the melody from a song posted earlier called "One More Friend". Just a chance to play around with guitars, really. I called it Two Friends because the guitars are a Fender (lead) and Gibson (fills), and they're a couple of my good friends!

Wow, smooth is right.
The guitar playing on this would make many a justly famous player proud. Lots of folk can make a guitar scream and shout but not so many can make it sing softly as you have done here.

A little face-forward on the mix, but a very creative and engaging melody. Thanks!

Good friends to have around...
Almost reminds me of a mix of Acoustic Alchemy whilst visiting Nashville. Lovely tone here Philip with a sprightly lead and a deft touch. I get warmth and comfort from this piece. You have such a high level of control that it sounds easy to play. I suspect otherwise.

Do you have a preference between the 2 guitars?

Hi Doug
Thanks for the comments - I'd be very happy to play along with Acoustic Alchemy! :-) Do I have a preference between the guitars? They are very different in tone. The Strat is more versatile, but I've had the Gibson since 1974 so I'm very attached to it. It has a warmth that is hard to beat. The Strat is a more recent purchase after I realised I "needed" a Fender - I do like the clucky tone the single coil pickups give, and my earliest guitar hero was Hank Marvin. So the preference depends on what and where I'm playing, but the Gibson is my emotional favourite! However, keep in mind PeterB7858's comment that I'm the "man with too many guitars" so there are a few others in the family that cry for attention, too...

Nice tone there Philip!
A very pleasant instrumental - the Strat just sings.
I'd suggest leaving a few extra seconds on the end of your bounces though. It was a bit disappointing when the fade cut out so quickly.
Cheers,
N

Very nice tune. The bridge is particularly strong. Nicely played throughout. Great chime from the Strat. The Gibson is super warm. They compliment each other beautifully.

I enjoyed this instrumental and the lovely bridge which took it away so gently and the brought it back with such ease. This reminded me of some of the music that was around in the early sixties when guitar instrumentals were the order of the day. Fine and polished work.

nothing but good times bridging the gap between these two.

Perhaps a little bit boomy, maybe a little less reverb too, in order to give each of them a little more room in the mix, but a very enjoyable listen.

with you as the go-between. I read what Eduard wrote. He said there was booming. I think I know what he means. I don't know if that is volume or something else but I'm sure you can cozy this up if you want to. A nice listen, for sure. Thank you.

Great idea...
You couldn't have chosen a better title for this one. What a great interplay you've created here. It is not only mellow, but the guitars complement each other in such a seamless fashion, almost as if each were singing simultaneously, a testament to your skill not only in playing, but also in splicing and mixing and punching-in and all the other things you had to do to get everything in sync. What an absolutely pleasant delight to hear this beautiful track.

Very nice sounding guitar work.

I'd tinker a little with the mix: removing some mid / lo-mid would make it more transparent. Also, the guitars are (despite their different character) somewhat close to each other in sound. Maybe with a little eq'ing you can get them further apart. Right now it's a bit confusing in places what I'm listening to.

Glad you liked the guitar work. Re the comments on the mix, I must admit I tend not to do the sort of thing you suggest (in part due to lack of expertise; in part because I know which bit is which from the notes as much as the tone, which I can see isn't the way a listener would approach it) but I should give it a try. Thanks for listening and for the comment - much appreciated!
