No clowning around here. I'm respecting this. Soulful mix.

Thank you my silver tongued ones! The guitar sound is actually my pitch
wheel modulating the electric piano sound. Yes we are pros, studio cats and
whatnot. Thanks for commenting!

Excellent stuff, CB! &mdash 03/04/05 - 04:14:50 PM
I was intrigued as to what this would sound like and
was more than pleasantly surprised. Very interesting
composition with particularly excellent production.
Perhaps a little bit aimless just occasionally. This
doesn't spoil the overall track but it led me to drop
my marks on Song Writing/Content and Originality/
Creativity from 9s to 8s. But still, I like this a whole
lot. I was pleased to see that my vote took it onto the
Weekly Picks, where it clearly belongs. Sorted!

Why thank you my monkey man, aimlessness is my goal, but I often miss the
mark! Thanks for the comment!

The big top is up!! &mdash 03/04/05 - 04:20:50 PM
Good overall and it certainly is an attention grabber. I
think that is important and you do it will with this piece.

The latin horn stabs get annoying though, so maybe you
could lessen the frequency of their placement or vary the
effects and dynamics that you use on them.

This piece is really abstract. Abstract like good art. I like
it a lot Clownbuster.

You weren't clowning around!

The big top is up!! &mdash 03/05/05 - 07:01:18 AM
I've been composing some very mellow and soft pieces lately, so I wanted to
shout and scream and let out some steam, hence the horn charts were
written to shout with the horns, forcefully, a primal scream if you will! Thanks
for commenting!

Impressive &mdash 03/04/05 - 04:35:52 PM
A little improvised jazz never goes amiss in my book....
It does for some reason, sound a tad forced, esp the
drums, almost as though the tempo on the perc has been
slowed down on purpose..., I adore the keyboards in
this... and the horns add to the almost Metheny like feel
on this...

anyhow, pretty darn cool track here... even if rather short.

Me lady, I have often called the drummer a stiff, I believe the tenseness you
percieve is the combination of playing to a loop that is perfectly in sync(the
conga's) and being human and trying to play as tight as a loop.

Nice job &mdash 03/04/05 - 05:25:35 PM
Jazz isn't my favorite thing but I liked this one. I'm
surprised at the rating on production as it sounded very
professional to me.

Nice job &mdash 03/05/05 - 07:08:54 AM
Now this is a complement, jazz is not everyone's cup of tea, not even very
popular in mainstream musicdom, yet If one can like a piece for the way it
hits them irregardless of genre, then that is the highest complement!, Thank
you Alan!

Doesn't sound like MMM's style to me (musically or otherwise)? What
makes you think they're one and the same?

I'm more inclined to think mimi=clownbuster and neither mim nor
clownbuster are Johnathon.

Great fugal horns, jazz arrangement &mdash 07/18/05 - 01:43:42 PM
Very nice. Love the Spirogyra/Oregon feel, the meter shifts,
the horn stabs, the fine delicate yet driving percussion. man,
I'm sorry I missed this when it first came out. Really nice
arrangement. Those horns sound very real, in a studio way.
The clav/synth keyboard solo was a bit square. Man those
Fugal horns really rock.

Great sound. the mix is perfect. Love the choice of keyboard textures. The arrangement is nice and airy with room for all the parts to really breathe. The tight horn arrangments are sweet. Rhodes sound is absolutely stunning as well as the playing.

Wonderful &mdash 01/26/07 - 07:03:59 PM
hmm... no comments in about 15 months! That ain't right! This is awsome stuff--Well composed, amazing performance, and a blast to listen to, so 10-10-10-10.

I came for a listen after seeing your post in the Inspiring Books thread, because it's pretty unusual to find someone who's heard of Schoenberg's "Fundamentals of Musical Composition," let alone been inspired by it, so I was curious to know what your music sounds like. Great stuff; it would be nice to hear more.
