Now the Love is Gone, v2, a capella

Description
I was embarrassed by the former version. I just sang the thing a bit slower. I repeated two lines in each verse. I did try to back it with music. I thought about adding a kind of double knock in a few places but I thought I'd screw this up. If you guys think it is better than the first version, I'll delete that one. I'm still hoping I could get a collaboration out of this. I would re-sing to fit. I didn't use a click. I know. But, sometimes, that is damnably distracting. I can't walk and chew gum at the same time, either. Thank you very much for listening.

Lyrics
I know about love
I know about love
I've been there before
I knock on the wall of your heart
But you slam the door
I know about love
I know about love
>
I know about pain
I know about pain
I feel what you send
All the insults, the rage, the blame;
Such wounds you can't mend
I know about pain
I know about pain
>
I'm stuck in this place
I'm stuck in this place
More dead than alive
Going back over what has passed
Poisoned, I can't thrive
I'm stuck in this place
I'm stuck in this place
>
Now the love is gone
Now the love is gone
The pain lingers still
How do I live from day to day
Swallowing this pill?
Now the love is gone
Now the love is gone

Now the Love is Gone, v2
This is a much stronger vocal performance. You sound relaxed. As a result your phrasing is much better. The pauses are placed well allowing each phrase to flow smoothly. The resolution to the root note at the end of each verse works very well, particularly in this solo context. Clean recording too.

As usual,
The melody just came. I realized I should sing it much more slowly. One of my cats added bit of percussion but I didn't think I could duplicate the single take. I tried a few loops to see if they'd fit and I found one but there wasn't enough to lay it behind. Thank you, Andrew.

Now the Love is Gone
This is a powerful rendition of a very emotion-charged song, Char. Your vocal is strong, clear and precise. No need for a click track on a song like this at all. Kudos. I tried to imagine an acoustic guitar backing for the song as I was listening and will give it some further thought. I will let you know how I get on. Kind regards, Peter.

Ah, hi, Peter,
I looked up the loop that seemed to fit. It was: Redondo Beach Long. It would have had a bit of instrumental intro. If there had been pieces that I could've fit together, I would've used that. If you come up with anything at all, I'd be grateful and I could sing it again. I really didn't know where I was going but I just tried to sing slowly. Thank you.

Maybe your best vocal yet...
Wow, Char. Your singing has come a long way in the right direction. This is very pleasant, in tune, and with such sincere delivery. I can imagine the harmony beneath this and wonder if you have any ideas about that. An accompaniment would really boost your vocal, though the simplicity of your singing easily stands on its own, too. I'll bet if you come up with a chord chart you'd get some interest in a collab. Nicely performed and very controlled.

Hi, Paul.
I just thought I'd give the lyric a second try. I can't make charts. I know. I don't make it easy. Thank you.

Hi, Ramona.
I think this is better than my first idea. I wasted a couple hours trying to make a backing for it. I think something bluesy would work. Anyway, it was something I had to try. Thank you.

Hi, getting back in the
saddle after a little breakette and a move....

This is a solid performance of a difficult subject....it always strikes me as very brave to sing acapella but you always nail it .....good show ....as we sometimes say....but not really very often.......nice one

You've Got...
... a lot more guts than I, Char. To sing *naked* like this without any musical accompaniment is a real feat. And you pulled it off. You display a very nice natural vibrato in your voice that is so smooth it is almost unnoticeable. The emotion in your voice is also compelling and, to my ear, almost painful. I guess we all know about love... and loss... and pain, so we immediately relate to your performance here. ;)
