I'm floored &mdash 03/06/05 - 04:01:26 PM
The piano in the intro and a few notes further in sound a
little...plastic. A more realistic piano sound would have
caused me to give you streight 10's as it were you'll have
to suffer with a 9 in the production department.

This song is fantastic! Great lyrics, so well produced it's
better than radio ready. I'm floored. It almost has a cure
feel to it, but I hate the cure so that can't be right.
Regardless, this is great!

Crying guitar &mdash 03/07/05 - 06:09:02 AM
and sad piano combined with meancholy lyrics is a pretty
powerful combination. Excellent song.

excellent production &mdash 03/07/05 - 09:19:39 AM
This tune's strengths are its excellent production values
(truly professional-sounding!) and your interesting,
expressive vocals.

Your choice of sounds fit together seamlessly, creating a
pleasant wash of sound.

My only minor "nit" on this tune is that I would have liked
to hear more variety in the chord progression earlier on in
the song. You did it beautifully towards the end -- I just
wish it were sooner.

Very good concept and performance though!

That guitar... &mdash 03/07/05 - 09:22:08 AM
... that goes boo-wah (or something like it) against the
descending chord sequence is great. It's a hook in itself.
The rest is great too of course...

Spellbinding &mdash 03/07/05 - 02:22:34 PM
This is one of those rare songs on MacJams that instantly
puts me in a mood. It's a somber mood. But a damn good
one. Vocal performance has a natural power that carries
this song. Combine that with the perfect selection of
chords and instruments and ya gotta hit. I have a
hellacious commute everyday and if this came on my radio
I would crank the hell out of it...and the commute would
be a little less bad. Congrats! A smash hit(as far as I'm
concerned) that reminds me of the best of BNL.

Lean and Tight &mdash 03/08/05 - 05:01:22 AM
Well-written and well-performed. It is really hard to think of improvements. It is very professionally done. I thought if this were something on the radio (and it could be) -- the chorus might have some rising strings/ambient synth to give it a building force in the middle and end. That would make it epic!

Reaching out &mdash 03/08/05 - 06:25:39 PM
Fix the intro. As already mentioned, it sounds too plastic
or synthetic. Once the extremely engaging vocals kicked
in, I was hooked. Your solo lead voice reaches out for
understanding...full of pathos. Great composition. I like
how some of lead guitar runs are used sparingly to
provide just the right amount of adornment and
counterpoint to the voice. I do find the repeating "to you"
phrase a bit overdone...not sure why. Maybe it should
fade or start to acquire some reverb/echo as it repeats, as
if falling away into a mist of despondency.

Wow... &mdash 03/08/05 - 07:49:51 PM
I just listened to 2 great tracks in a row. My lucky day!

I really liked this. The acoustic almost acts as a
percussion instrument at times. Too many influences at
play here to mention, but a very nice mix of them!

I agree about the "plastic" feel at the beginning. Besides
Iseae's mention of the instrument sample, i think that the
drum loops play the biggest factor. They just need to be
a little more human when they're down to that tempo. I
think they just needed to be a little looser.

Great work. 8-8-8-8

Yes, that into . . . &mdash 03/09/05 - 01:13:32 PM
. . . needs massaging.

Too much drums. Too much velocity, too much similar
velocity too.

The piano is quantized. Too ON the beat every time.
Lacks that human nuance so prevalent in the rest of this
really solid piece.

I love the slidey guitar.

Amazing! &mdash 04/17/05 - 10:30:51 PM
Please post more detail. Lyrics, inspiration, etc.

Take this as intended; you have an androgynous voice on this track. I am voting and commenting without reading anything below. Going to feel stupid if I already have, but pretty sure I would remember this.

This is a scary song. Causes me pain. Hurts me.

I love it. Damn you're good. Sell me a disc!

You shame me.

This is the highest score I have ever given out. 10 9 9 9!

Wow. Off to listen to the rest of your stuff.

nice one &mdash 05/11/05 - 08:12:27 PM
Hey, I really dig this song, one thing that I like about it (and your style in general) is how you build off one progression so well, so that the song really goes somewhere. Very nice one.
