The King Of No Man v3.0 [expanded to 5 min - WIP]

Description
9/7.13 - Final Version with download posted here: http://www.macjams.com/song/77677

This past week I've extended this to nearly 5 minutes. Along with tweaks based on Liarion's suggestions (timps and crotales), the first theme is longer, and there is a new section (not fully fleshed out) after the main theme. From here I will write the actual ending... but have no idea what it will be!

NOTE: I use a chord [Gb, Bb, Db, second inversion, with a Cb bass note] in the first of the last two phrases [to the cadence, resolved to an Ab chord]. I like the dissonance created, but not sure it fits [in the listener's POV].

This is completely scored (so far), and ready to play! LOL

Thanks for listening, more to come, next version should be the last.

Nice!
This is interesting listening to the stages you go through in developing your piece. This is evolving very nicely. I'll refrain from suggesting more cowbell just this once.

I want to cry.
This is so, so beautiful. The bells being lowered works great, they still cut like crazy. the velocity variations on the tymps humanized it nicely, as I suggested it might, and everything is just jelled so sweetly and nicely. the french horn line ~3:20 is majestic and wonderful. The themes are so rich and full. I cannot believe the sounds you have at your disposal; and your ability to articulate each with accuracy, empathy, and humanity. Holy crap.

Deepest appreciation
My ultimate goal is to create music that is original and believable. I struggle as a player, barely able to play chords. Scoring is so natural. Thank you for making it worth the effort. Your background in music is rich and sincere. Thanks for the encouragement.

Accessible musical beauty
Alimar, your complex composing/arrangements are successful for many reasons - one being, is that us peons in the grandstands can listen, smile, and appreciate a wonderful piece of music.

Developing strongly!
Impressive dynamics in this, that's a weak point in some of my work so I will take that away as inspiration to learn more about it. Aside from he educational value this is rapidly turning into a beautiful and expressive piece, I look forward to the finished work!

Educational
It's great that you are getting something from this. Different from velocities, the dynamic symbols in scoring (hairpins < >) are similar the the curves in GarageBand and Logic for 'feel'. Not just raising or lowering the volumes, but designating crescendos and decrescendos (pppp to mp, to mf, to ffff) (and all points in between), along with accents really make the sound field wax and wane. Thanks for your support!

The King Of No Man v3.0
Pretty impressive for a guy who professes not to be able to play a chord.. :-) Who needs chords when you have all those little black squiggles on an orchestral score at your beck and call. Inspiring work, Al. Thanks, Peter.

Festive!
And that's assuming the word 'festive' includes all qualities, like jubilant, joyful, uplifting, inspiring, subtle and let's put a good old BEAUTIFUL in there.

It's really a wonderful thing to be part of your tremendous musical progress and accomplishment, Alimar. Each new post of yours seems to have more depth, complexity and transparency in the structure and instrumentation.

Visions of King Arthur's day, a masquerade ball with pomp and circumstance. Plenty of processions. Something exciting happens near the middle...don't know what, but it resolves. Love your music!

Magical opening...
What a lovely little piece that is so gentle on the ears. Beautifully orchestrated, Al. Your strings are particular sweet and that flute tune meandering through the lush, easy landscape is so pretty. The big crescendo at 2:05 is a little surprising, but nonetheless a satisfying transition to part B. I am glad you returned to something a little more serene at the end but wish you'd have absolutely replicated your opening and taken it to a quiet, subdued finale. Just my own preference. Has nothing to do with the lovely work you have done with this whole track. Most enjoyable in every way. And wonderful that you have scored it, too. Yay.
