Distraction
I like the sounds of the various instruments. Not so sure about the persistent cymbal - seems distracting to me 😄 . I like the way the instruments work together in supplying a rich musical soundscape. Entertaining!

Thanks for the input!
I must admit that drums challenge me in jazz pieces :) Most jazz drums tend to push the ride cymbal more than anything but in this one I didn't vary the beat that much (the drums are concocted from Loops in this case - a drummer I am not!). I'll have to see if some variations work better. Thanks very much for the observation!

very cool swing free tune
love the bass and keys - excellent track. the drums are a little strange with the delay effect on them - but it works ok for me

Thanks!
The piece is all MIDI but the Akai EWI is pretty specialized hardware - a very unique MIDI controller :) Glad you enjoyed it.

Exciting!
You've worked some real magic here Michael--I love jazz and this is a real marvel to listen to. Outstanding--and please do more in this line! Thanks for presenting this, it made my evening--and a very Merrie Christmas to you and yours this year! Michael

Thanks
Merry Christmas to you as well. I love jazz too so I'm sure I'll post more in this line. I bounce between jazz and electronic pieces depending on my moods and how much stress I'm under :).

Enjoyed
Curious what the very fast ride cymbal cone like sound is? Is it the ride? Anyway cool piece very nicely done!

Thanks
Hi Mark, thanks for the listen. As far as I can tell the cone is just the ride - might be higher up the cymbal. The drums here are live sampled jazz. I did use 2 different sculpture reverbs on this one (maybe a little too much on the drums) but overall it worked out.

I think the last piece I heard from you was jazz ... you do a fine job on my favourite genre. Nice job of the horn lines ... the sax sounds quite believable. Pretty cool to be able to create this with a keyboard. The bass sounds great! Well done!
Happy Holidays

EWI :)
Thanks - the sax and horn, though were the Akai EWI (electronic wind instrument - blown into!). The Akai EWI emits MIDI events instead of sounds though. Lots of fun to play.

Wow
Hard to believe its samples driven by MIDI the Akai really gives some great expression. Is your background as a sax player? Great job.

Thanks!
My distant past background is in trumpet playing. I love using the EWI though - feels very much like performing. I have some great trumpet and sax engines to use with it but its also fun to hook up to synthesizers with breath control. Its bit like using an expression pedal but with breath.
