Description
Is this my first ragtime entry? Another genre....

I wrote this piece in the late 1970s as a piece for double wind quintet. The other day I decided to rearrange it for recorder orchestra. This takes at least 18 players.

Raggedy Ann
Very nicely done. This is an engaging piece of music and well played. I like you draw it all together at the end.

The picture of Raggedy Ann reminds me of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang for some reason.

A constant surprise
Lovely to hear real instruments when most of us have to depend on synthetic sounds.

Amazing work. Only 4 minutes but so much movement, changes in texture, twists in melody and timing.

Cheers

Raggedy Ann's Ragtime
A really creative piece of music that draws the listener in, Vic, with, to me, just a merest hint of menace lurking roundabouts. Wonderful playing. Thanks, Peter.

Raggedy
Much more modern sounding than a retro ragtime. Beautifully complex movements. I particularly like the bit starting at 2:00.

Retro
Yeah, a lot of it is not really ragtime. It's mostly that opening theme, that was clearly written with stride piano in mind.

Glad you liked it.

Reminds me of the
Nutcracker Suite in it's sound.(not a copy or imitation of)....that sort of ...well ..yes ragtime beat ..feel..do you think maybe Tchaikowsky inadvertently invented ragtime..? Seriously ..?

Charming, inventive, ....
...full of narrative and whimsy. It is great to hear someone writing this kind of playful music in a classical mode (not ragtime...sorry)that is so intriguing and cleverly constructed. (Love the minor feeling of some chords around the middle, but wish you've have explored that area for a little longer.) HOW you get all of this recorded is a marvel to me. You seem to have absolute control over the synchronization of each entry/counterpoint. You must have a lot of patience to pull this off so well. Very impressive work

Multi-track recorder
No, not the Ampex kind! Now this is something extra-ordinary! What a whimsical piece! A large recorder ensemble is completely new to my ears. There are many possibilities for exploration contained within.
