The
first 30 seconds I wasn't too crazy about, but as soon as that percussion kicked in, the song stayed in hyper gear and didn't let up. Think I'm sweating. Guitar is magnificent.

Hello Sam
That first thirty seconds is a funny thing. Three guitars all in their own space... like a conversation. That's the thing, the parts are all talking to each other... the discussion. A long time ago the form was a launching pad for spontaneous response. The guitar solo after the gong is the first take. I was sweating too, I started to work another tension when the track quits... can ya hear where I was going next?

Ah, Mr. Carbon
You are correct in assuming this was fun to make. In the old days the jam was the thing... players that had "push", a illusive quality perhaps, were highly prized. Now shit just lies there... and the vacant sway, or pony copulation. Ah progress. Thanks for checking in!

I get a supercharged, jazz infused vibe from this. Exceptional guitar work, AND pencilling. Keys sound great. Cool groove to latch on to. The Daug house is rocking'! Also made me think of the theme music from Batman (Adam West vintage). I can imagine the Caped Crusader and Robin doing the "bat dance" to this :-) Thanks for the ride, Peter.

Hello Peter
Great to have your support on this project. Dance music on this one, the groove is unusual perhaps... expect something is happening? Bat dance? Yeah I understand your reference and it is because of the harmony, I would imagine you would get that flavor? The inspiration for this piece is Stax there is a rhythmic device employed that is unique. The Gretch guitar's name is "Bop". That guitar plays a particular phrase throughout this piece. Anyway, that phrase starts one beat before before ears expect it to start almost every time. This one done on purpose to produce a certain effect. And it seems to work for people with big ears...

Intense
...and unique jam. A challenging listen, but I tell you it was well worth it! This one's got that vibe of fusion jazz a la Miles Davis. Very much enjoyed. Cheers.

Hello Mr. Mystrag
Take a look around, lots of challenging stuff in the house. Once free of the constraints of commercial music all kinds of cool stuff is possible... look around but be careful. Especially potent outings feature a disclaimer, Harold, our recently departed MJ friend who I miss already, insisted I put warnings on dangerous tunes, he nearly burned his house down listening to a post here ... pharmacy grade pharmaceuticals is the standard.

Cool sounds by a great macjams contributor. Lots of fast sounds and like the way the sounds dance funky in between my ears! Now I feel like getting up and doing some cool dancing. But I know I am not a Fred Astair or even a michael Jackson.

Hello Bill
Glad to see you back in the house for a listen, the jerk or the pony works with this one fairly easily. I never got a good mix 'cos I was up working the back muscles to the tune lol.

Hello Chris
Thanks for your kind comments. Indeed I was trying to make a dance tune with a solid groove I think the ideas in here work well for that purpose. See ya next time!

Yanno...
...I really liked this one--the intro is a little disarming and out there, but I think that makes what happens next even more engaging.

MJK in the house
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I agree with your comment and would suggest music which includes the disarming, dissonant and even repulsive is equally essential to the groove found in part three of this outing. The audience deserves the full pallet. I will never make a sticky bun lol! Too much of that mindset already...

Yes Fergie I have been here since the place opened. In fall 2009, I erased the 60+ tunes I had posted since day one. The community here had changed, becoming hateful and repressive, and I needed to respond appropriately. What happened?... [see more]
