Description
This a redo of a song John Libby and I collaborated on here at macjams. Recently I have been recording with Cedrick Barnes a bass player/musician that I use to play with in a band. We have been trying some new stuff but so far most of it has been revisiting some of the tunes we use to play. Cedrick has encouraged me to put together this music the way we want it performed. We don't have a piano player, drummer, vocalist yet, the tracks are there and it can be built upon if ever this gig should surface. This was one of those songs I enjoyed to play the most.

I redid the drums using GB, the lead guitar (the way I use to play it live), I dropped one of the electric guitar rhythm tracks, the vocals (since I couldn't fix the older track with a de-esser), added Cedrick's awesome bass and redid the acoustic guitar intro using the Som D'ouro classical guitar that Harold passed down to me (picture included). The piano and keys? well it's awesome the way it is.

This song is about homeless people. The first part of the song is a bit sympathetic, the second part, just a bit cruel. So why find yourself in a similar situation? Some due to self infliction, homeless by choice, mental health or maybe bad luck. I can't understand... I'm not in their shoes... that is if they have any. It hurts me most when I see the children. There are many programs that strive to help, a couple that quickly come to mind... Salvation Army and a local one here in my area, Mission Arlington. So...if you have some extra change, and see someone ringing a bell, drop it on in.

John Luper - guitars and vocals
John Libby - piano and keys
Cedrick Barnes - bass

Lyrics
Unnoticed and Contained

Walking in circles
No where to go
Reaching the same place
Following your soul
Making no difference
Taking no mind
Your just discouraged
And wasting all your time
Just following no one
Your innocence is asking for the truth...

Cheating your feelings
Hiding your face
It's self destruction
It'll bring you to your fate
Has no ambition
Showing no pain
Tears are the dry ones
Unnoticed and Contained
Just following no one
Your innocence is asking for the truth...

It's so complicated
Things didn't work your life just faded
And you had your chance
But your step was to a different dance

You couldn't groove you couldn't dude
Not in your own high school
Now your out and about
see it in your face there's a lot of doubt

Frankly man I don't understand
You traded a silver for a soup spoon
You had your chance a final glance
Now it's time to turn some pages...

really good
mix -- the guitars and keys are perfectly distinct. The melody develops nicely. If I had to be nitpicky, I'd say that the vocals are at times a little bit over-enunciated, but that's an incredibly minor point.

SO MUCH better than "not too bad"! This is really terrific work from the 3 of you. The guitars sound so excellent. Rich and resonant sound - thanks for the D/L!

Wow I wish I was still writing like this
lol - I wish I ever wrote like this. Great song John, and wonderful work on the vocals and guitar. The whole production sounds great - solid bass and keys. Love the way it takes off and keeps running strong - building up without becoming cluttered. Sweet sign off too.

A song in two parts, both stellar, John. The first is lyrical and flowing, the second is prog rock par excellence. The guitars and keys work so well as a package. Fine song about an issue that is prevalent everywhere. Thanks to all, Peter.

I'm a self taught guitar player who started playing at the age of 13. I mix my guitar progressions together, add lyrics and from that point I'll search for vocal melodies. The music I write is about life experiences and some about random subject mat... [see more]
