Description
I have started a new collection of organ music with the umbrella title "Cantabile Sacra" — Sacred Songs. I have a few friends who are church organists (and I am one, myself), so adding to the body of work for this instrument has some rather immediate and practical purpose. I am fortunate to have quite a nice (small, Rodgers 205 hybrid) pipe organ in my living room which helps me to "realize" the thoughts that run through my head. Adding to that inspiration are the myriad plug-ins that live inside my computer which I am utilizing to fill out or enhance the general sound of what I record. I hope you will enjoy this latest number, the organ score being found here, if you are interested in seeing it:

sigh .... just gorgeous Paul, as usual! love the shot of your living room - not very common to see a pipe organ and large grand in the same photo, except maybe in a church! i think you're the first person i've ever known with a pipe organ in their living room. i remember when you got it and sent me a photo - i could barely believe my eyes! as much as i love your piano music, i love your organ music just as much. thanks for this beautiful gift!

I've got
to say that the organ music always comes across as very soothing and...as Karen says, 'a large grand and a pipe organ in the same room' takes some beating so I'll bet you have some great parties at your house (LOL). Once more Paul a beautiful piece of music enjoyed, regards and best wishes for Christmas and New Year, M

Wow
Incredible piece of music, no surprise there, but as for the picture my mind immediately went to photoshop and some internet photo database. In-cred-ible to have such a combo in one's living room!

Much enjoyed. Thank you and all the best for Christmas and the new year!

The music room...
...is fantastic! Mine has a computer and an m-audio midi controller. :-) Yours is much nicer.

What a lovely, soothing piece of music. Best to you.

Cantabile Sacra Two
Soothing, reflective music, Paul. Good for both sacred and secular thoughts :-) There can't be too many people who have a pipe organ in their living room. Looks (and sounds) great. Thanks, Peter.

Fine stuff!
That's an astonishingly rich sound-- all from one instrument? Amazing. The changes in emotional tenor here are very contemporary. I hear as much film music as classical in this, which makes it post-modern(?). In any event, I enjoyed it enough to listen 4 times!
Thank you!

Lovely piece. If this is for your use, are you going to play all parts on the organ?

So I was wondering about that title. The adjective "sacra" is either first declension singular, or second neutral plural. But I'm not sure about "cantabile". I don't think Latin could verb an adverb. So to speak. Even if it could, it feels like third declension, so it feels like a mismatch to me. But my latin is extremely rusty. As a church musician, you probably have better command of latin. Kindly illuminate.

What a fabulous living room!
Thanks for sharing this photo of your home. It made the music ever more enjoyable. I smiled all the way through, with warmth and satisfaction filling me. All those photos on your grand piano worried me, tho. I never let anyone put anything on mine. And that vase looks like it has water in it!

Just to make sure, you write most of this on your living room organ, but record it using midi? If so, please share the up and down sides of this. As I writing on several keyboards throughout my house, I'd like to hear your thoughts on if the differing instruments and placement effects your final music.

Happy New Year, and may the peace you bring with your music surround you throughout the new year.
