My Reverie
Originally popularized by bandleader Larry Clinton with a vocal by Bea Wain, taken from Debussey. I actually spoke to Liberace when I was a little kid--my dad took me to see him and he was going through the audience showing off his ring. But just the same--I'll take the year's supply of Johnson Wax and the Samsonite luggage set. Lovely work Henry, thanks!

Network radio
The latex piano player is from one of Stan Freberg's radio shows. Stan's wit and commentary on history and current society was one of my pleasures as a teen becoming aware of the adult world. I can't think of a modern comedian like him. Today comedy seems to be about personal hangups and foibles.

Yes. 'Reverie'. Beautifully played. Such delicate music.

Hi Dave,
It's kinda scary posting a piece of unadorned piano music. There are much better pianists around MJ.

Don't
do yourself a disservice. Your playing is very good. My only surprise was that you didn't re-voice it!

I remember
watching Liberace's TV show. One weird tune was "Cement mixer goes putty, putty" ..or something like that. He popularized piano playing by making fun of himself. And, who could ever forget the outfits? I can't play a damn thing. You sound fine to me. This is a beautiful piece. Thanks for doing it justice.

Debussey
I think your playing is quite wonderful. Fluid and delicate.
I really enjoyed this Henry.

Revering Reverie
Love the tune.
Alongside Liberace, I also enjoyed Virgil Fox, a similar showman on the Classical organ. If you haven't checked him out yet, please do!

Give That Man a Candelabra
Thanks for the timely tip-of-the-hat to Stan Freberg, truly a uniquely gifted talent.

There's no reason for self-effacement, Henry. Your performance comes through as heart-felt and that, my friend, is about as good as it gets. ;)

Very pleasant listen.
Henry, don't put your piano playing down. This is quite lovely and sensitively played. I can certainly appreciate the idea of "unadorned piano music," but a composition as exquisite as this stands on its own in a special place of beauty. Glad you brought it to life as a reminder that there are more refined things in the musical world than screaming teens and disfunctional ranting.
