Description
Moving On, written by our friend, Bob Rodgers, is a little late getting here. He sent this to me two years ago, but I never got it. Unfortunately, he used a bad e-mail address and just assumed I wasn’t interested. I’m glad he finally gave me a nudge in the MJ mail!

Bob and I have collaborated before. Our last song was Angelika, which we were pretty happy with, and everyone seemed to like it. He wrote Moving On with me in mind for the vocals, though I thought his own voice sounded pretty good. I wasn’t too pleased with my first takes, so Bob did a little adjusting, and changed the key from A to G, and slowed it down some, and with a slightly different style.

Bob does all the music on this, but I threw in the harmonica, which he blended in with a very smooth guitar, which I think had a very nice effect. We hope everyone enjoys Moving On. We enjoyed making it! Peace. Terry

Lyrics
Moving On

I never had the time for you
I was always moving on
Thinking about the good times
It’s where I belong
We got to watch the movies
And see the setting sun
But, I have to keep moving
I’m moving on
I’m moving on

I’m going down the highway
In a Greyhound bus
Then I got to think about
The two of us
I’ll soon be in my hometown
Waiting for the train
Knowing that it takes me
Back to you again
I’m moving on
I’m moving on

You won’t wait forever
You won’t wait too long

I’ve been across the mountains
I’ve sailed across the seas
Many times I wonder
Where I want to be
I think I need a reason
To find a place to stay
Or do I keep moving
For one more day
I’m moving on
I’m moving on
I’m moving on
I’m moving on
I’m moving on

Moving On
Beautiful tone to this, created by the crisp guitars with nice echo, the warm vocal and the harmonies. The harp which adds a homely feel to it. It does like a Bob Rogers song (a good thing!) with an extra dimension that you add to it, Terry. I like it a lot!

If something is meant to be then it will be, I believe sooner or later and this gem is a prime example.. Impressive as can be.. Terry, your vocals remind me of a cross between James Taylor ( but with more life) and Jimmy Buffet.. Bob's harmonica was icing on the cake.. The pace fit the mood of the song superbly. May you get many listens and props from this as it deserves it

Like most of you guys stuff
This is top notch, top shelf quality. The guitars sound like they were recorded a million dollar studio and sound room! The vocals fit perfectly and I love the general feel of the tune. The lyrics have a deep meaning for me as I go through the last three years of my life. Nicely done!

Million dollar mix!
Bob did a superb job with that. I've always been drawn to his guitars not only by their smoothness, but pristine clarity as well. Some people are just naturals when it comes to the mixing and mastering. Peace, and thanks for the comments. Terry

I've got a thing for "keep movin" songs
I was a wayfarer in my "Table Five." We all have that "can't stay long" spirit, I guess. I love adding my harp in these collabs. Hopefully, I'm getting better, but it's like what Groucho Marx said of honest dealing, "If you can fake that, you've got it made!" Hearing all these other musicians on guitars and keys, I happy to have them take care of that end of it. Thanks for the kind words, Tim.

It's been a long stretch for me doing nothing, and this nudge Bob gave me is what I needed. I've got all these songs that you and I wrote that need to be worked up, so I'm hoping you can take a look at them and see what we need to do. Stay tuned, Brother, and anything you have that I can help on, let me know. Peace. Terry

Funny, but Bob wasn't sure about his lyrics, and said I could write my own if I wanted, but I don't think I could have come up with anything better. They look and sound great to me. They inspired my singing, and hopefully the emotions were conveyed as felt. We appreciate your kind words.

Been travelling in Europe, Terry. Playing catchup. Fine work, you two. Quality song and you do the vocals just right, Terry. Tasteful arrangement and the harp gives it a Neil Young vibe a la Harvest Moon. Wonderful listen. Thanks, Peter.
P.S. It looks like Bob really has moved on? Any news?
