Description
This one has been getting tweaked on occasion but overall has not had any instrumentation changes since it was tracked a couple years back. The original idea was something meditative and spacey. Hope you like it.

chillin
because this creates a "mood" right from the start. Versatile song too because I could hear anything from a angelic female voice to a rapper behind it.

develop more
I tried a few times to get back in the zone to extend the song but it just never got "better". i do like the drums/percussion parts, they got the most attention in the mixing.

Chinese Flutes
Interesting melange of sounds, papa. Meditative in parts but more actively cerebral that your average ambient music. Creative and interesting. Thanks, Peter.

Melange
As I worked on it and tried to add more, the composition pushed back... seemed to have "just enough" so I focused on the arrangement and mix.
Thanks for listening and taking the time to comment.

Tasty Production!
I enjoy the feeling this evokes, papag. Sammydix sums things up nicely - it could host lots of varied approaches. Your own description of "meditative and spacey" fits my particular mood at the moment. Like what might be playing if I was floating amongst the landscape pictured - monkey mind shut off and experiencing a new dimension. Thanks for dl!

Monkey mind
This was inspired from the flute sounds and was the first track laid down against a basic drum beat... then everything else fell into place. I'm glad you liked it enough to download (hopefully you will succeed in the dl).
Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment.

The drum beat that came in a later took me by surprise a little. I like that I wasn't expecting that.

Nice set up...
Amazing what you can do with a couple of chords as the ground for instrumental solos. Very cool. I can hear lots of melodies springing out of this and encourage you to investigate where this might go were you to let the flights of fancy run free above the band.

investigate
thanks for the kind words of encouragement. I spent a good bit of time working through the arrangement (what there is of it) trying to get a feeling of progression and I'm glad you like it.

Catchy
Everything here feels nicely balanced, yet the parts are clearly stated. In that it has a meditative feel to it. Where it could go might be starting with some soloing variations after the melody line repeats for the fourth time (rather than waiting for that to happen near the end) .. and go from there. Of course, there goes the mediation : )

catchy is as catchy does
i take it you mean the lead guitar sound when you suggest melodic variations... I tried a few times to wring out something from the original fragment but each attempt seemed pale in comparison to the simple line. anyhew, long story short... I wish I was more clever :) Thanks for listening and commenting

meditative
i just listened to it again and fell asleep!!! not really but I did have to hear it with fresh ears after not hearing it for a while and I do hear the meditative qualities in it. And all along i thought it was this rockin downtempo thing. Thanks for your comments

Hypnotic
I like how the song start and pulls you in. Keys and percussion keep the mood flowing and I really like your choice using the upright bass. Enjoyable listen this lazy Sunday.

pulls you in
Building the song to keep interest was part of my effort here. The upright bass has just the right voice in the instrumentation for my ear. The plucked sound was so "round".
Thanks for listening and taking the time to comment.

This sounds great
not what I was expecting as meditative - there's more going on here to catch my ear and keep me paying attention to the music. A good thing despite what your intentions may have been.

This has a great groove and I love the pacing. And since I'm a fan of electro stuff, I especially like the synthy, spacey bits. :)
