Lyrics
Wondering Why
©2015 Neil Porter

I don’t get out much anymore
The lights of the city
Block the stars in the sky
There I’m just a face in the crowd
My heart gets heavy
And I’m wondering why
Its not getting me high
And I’m wondering why
Its not getting me high
And I’m wondering why

I don’t feel alone anymore
I feel so contented
And I’m ready to fly
If it’s a sin to be proud
I guess I’m a sinner
And I don’t even try
And its getting me high
And I don’t even try
And its getting me high
And I’m wondering why

Just need the streams and the valleys
Ancient trails in the forest
On a hot summer day
Making new friends in old places
I realise
That there’s so much to say
And its getting me high
And I don’t even try
And its getting me high
And I’m wondering why

Time goes so fast these days
Life moves so quickly
Things are passing me by
But in so many ways
Life’s so much richer
Than money can buy
And its getting me high
And I don’t even try
And its getting me high
And I’m wondering why

Nice indeed...
Neil, the attempt to revisit "early jiguma" is a success. This is rich sounding - a man and his guitars... Peace and kudos...

Beautifully done!
Guitars really come across well.

Very Simon and Garfunkel and nothing wrong with that!

Cheers

From a big fan of "early jiguma"
I like this a lot!
Very interesting composition ... how vocals interact/counterpoints with guitar backing.
Highly enjoyable alltogether!

Thank you for the dl!

Thanks Johannes,
Thanks for listening - I should probably have asked someone like yourself to do the guitar parts, as it's a little rough :)
Kenta made the following suggestion for downloading:
"There is a way to download, but it's little work around thing.
Go to http://www.macjams.com/music/ and right klick on the preview button and on the list at the player you end up to, cheers. p.s you have to name it as it is just the upload nr on it." Seems to work.

A gentler kind of pride
Love the guitar rich brightness and the close intimate vocals. Just you, without the band, is a wonderful change up. Perfect for your sentiments and clear observations. Thanks for sharing this. A vindication, an embrace, a communion. Well done.

Got me high
Nice and soothing, Neil. Soothing; that's a word I've often used to describe your voice, and it really fits here. These guitars bring this song to a smooth and enjoyable ride. I hit the d/l, and if it didn't take, I'll keep trying. I'd like to keep this one. Peace to all y'all in Oz!

emotions...
Nice piece Neil, glad to pass here just in time to discover this song and more, the source of your inspiration ! Sound clear, warm harmony just between a rich voice and guitar playing. I love this intimate style, which reflect perfectly your emotions. Thanks…

Well you are really mixing it up a bit recently, Neil. To our gain. This is a lovely post. The guitars sounds great and the song flows so well. Your warm vocals sits so nicely in the mix. I agree with Dick re the S & G reference (even though you are the yin to Art's yang :-)). Like it a lot. Thanks.

Guitar magic...
As others have already commented, the guitar work here is particularly compelling... Addition of vocal harmony starting at about 1:18 is such a nice touch, too. From a purely musical point of view, this is just so pleasant to listen to.
