No way to live ( collab with Sewer Rod)

Description
I had this song lying around for a while and didn't think I had the voice for it so asked Mr Sewer Rod if he would like to put some vocals on it. Now Mr.Rod has a wide variety of vocal styles form deep guttural growl. Lemmy rough rock vocals and demented elfin but managed to throw me when he sent back an ethereal, spaced out set of vocals and lyrics.
Took me ages to get what I felt was a half decent mix..plus I've been feeling a bit despondent about making music but hopeful get charged up again to put some stuff up.
Photo is decapitated dolls head I found up the road.
Turn it up loud and hope you like it

Rod steps out....
Ever since Mumbles went all James Taylor I have been anticipating this breakout recording!
Congrats on the collab! Enjoyed the work, the production worked well, but maybe tweak the vocal track up and effect it a bit? Just the way I heard it.

in rod we trust
jay sent me the vocals and he'd recorded it in stereo with effects on it already and it was a thin line between being too quiet and too loud..I must have done the former but felt it sat in the mix a bit better. Thanks for dropping in and glad you liked most of it.;-) cheers

No way to live
Insistent, driving rock. Quality riffage. Develops a stark, industrial vibe. I'd also vote for the vocals to be more prominent in the mix. I found the lyrics hard to decipher. Just a tweak away, though. Thanks.

me neither
Jay wrote the words and didn't send them to me. The area up the road from me is called Fairyland which is where I found the dolls head. They're a bit 'touched' up there
Thanks for dropping in

No way
Yes, this is best played loud. Vocal is enchanting in how it draws me in. Backing instrumentals are all solid and the result is a song I will play again. Mix sounds good to me in cans with a good wide sound stage. I'm hearing the vocal at the right level in these particular phones. Great post.

thanks Doug
It's such a thin line mixing stuff and I find it hard doing heavier rock stuff to still try to keep certain dynamics without it being muddy. It sounded ok to me to in my headphones too. I must have chopped and changed the levels loads of times to get what I thought would be good, Glad it sounded good to you and thank for dropping in

Enjoyed the track and loved it's drive, the vocal was a bit far back in the mix for my rock n roll scarred ears but effective all the same. Nice over-driven guitar sound and general mix. I liked the song too.

Not
sure it matters that I'm not hearing the words clearly. It could be about anything. It has a sense of urgency. Such a driving beat. Cool.
