Lawn ornament
Nice sound to the new flute (although I probably could have done without the background sounds - maybe just the drum?) How many flutes do you own, Victor?

Background sounds
Sorry, the background sounds are part of the recording.
Eh, recorders: about 15; native american flutes, about 12; other world and old flutes: call it another 15.

Flute Sounds Great On Its Own
Spirited improv and rich tone on your new instrument. Agree with background assessments.

Within and Without
Improv fluting .. is like performing without a net. It's nice to have reached a skill level where you are comfortable with just "doing it."

Background noises not an issue for me. (In fact, I spend a fair amount of time adding ambience to soundtracks to make the background more .. interesting.) This one actually works pretty well with the sounds your breathing .. blending the within and the without.

Flutey fun
Cool Vic - sounds like you're busking in a subway and that works for me. Light and playful. Nice tone too. What is the lowest note in the range of the instrument?

Low
the lowest note is only a G below middle C. There is something about that sine-wave sound of a flute that makes it sound deeper.

Re: Low
I remember something back from music classes where if you have the right mix of the strength of overtones you can imply in the listener's ear a fundamental an octave lower than actually exists. An interesting psycho-acoustical effect.

Undertones....
That trick is used in church organs: if you have a 16 and a 10 2/3 foot register they sound like a fifth, which suggests that there is a lower octave under it. That difference tone gives you a 32 foot register (sorta) without having to deal with actual 10 meter long pipes.

Lawn ornament
I can imagine you sitting there cross legged, playing the flute, and being mistaken for a lawn ornament. A very talented ornament, it has to be said :-) Thanks.

well played
always interesting to hear a new sound, a new texture...and i loved that there was all that ambient sound, made it "real" somehow.
