TORE ME UP
Sparse, laid-back blues groove with a sting in the tale. John's Hammond work is stellar and the accentuating punch of the drums and bass lay the groundwork for Dawson's mournful, yet melodious, vocals. Like the understated guitar work and tone, too, Neil. Enjoyed. Thanks.

Thanks Peter
John played with us in The Shed and a couple of gigs last year until he fell for the lure of brighter lights. He had been saying he was coming back for a visit for a few weeks and on the day we were going to do a solo (harp or guitar probably), John turned up with his truck and full sized B3 and Leslie speaker - pretty much out of the blue. Not being ones to let an opportunity pass us by, we soon had him laying down the B3 track you hear. Needless to say, we're keen for a return visit :)
Dawson has been writing some nice blues songs lately, and this is his third that we have recorded. It's a pleasure having him visiting the Shed and being a part of PBGB.

Very nice
I love the minimalist instrumentation and arrangement.

The Hammond really comes into its own with such restrained performances.

Fine vocals as well.

Cheers

Dick

What Dick L. said:
the minimalist approach to this kind of blues song is the perfect combination with the mellow vocal. Hammond organ — haven't heard one of those in quite a while. It is so well-suited to this number in that extended interlude. Kind of a mournful little song, and effective.

A nice slow funk groove! The instrumentation is sublime and that organ is inspired. Enjoyed that.

Neil, your band's performance of this classic rock style blues tune is as solid as it gets. Great sound - open - spacy - lots of room to breath. Dawson's soulful vocal performance nestles right in the middle of that superb musical soundscape, and it's as sad as can be. Great writing and excellent musicianship make this a worthwhile listen - nice work!

Neil, big mix but lots of space - really feels intimate - I could imagine this in a smoke filled pub at about 1am. Full marks to all involved here.

Neil...
I'm beginning to think you have been secretly flying around the country and abducting all the talent to your sweet warm shores of Aussie land.

I didn't have much talent to begin with but now I have much less... What night did you sneak in and take mine!?

Spot on perfect in every way!
