Mozart Horn Concerto No 4 'Rondo'

Description
I like Mozart's horn concertos, especially his fourth. This is the third movement and perhaps the most famous of them all. You most likely will have heard it, even if you've not known what it is. It's a really whimsical piece, but nonetheless mathematically beautiful. Such was Mozart's genius, I suppose.

I've re-voiced it using three synths and a bit of space designer. Mashed it up pretty well, though I've tried to keep the 'horn' aspect intact. It is a horn concerto after all!

As I always do, apologies to purists who might prefer the original piece. I do myself, it's one of my favourite Mozart compositions. But it's great to play around with such mighty music, especially during such a horrible, inspiration-less period. That's why I do it.

(I doubt the song art will show, but it's embedded in the mp3 if you have a huge desire to see it!)

Thanks for listening and it's a 320 mp3 download, if you should want it.

Having played this...
... many, many, many - too many - times, I have absolutely no complaints about how it's presented here. It's a nice, fresh and interesting arrangement. It actually made me think this is what it would have sounded like if they'd stuck a bit of Mozart in with the Beethoven in the Clockwork Orange soundtrack.

I probably haven't played this in 30-plus years, but when I was in high school, it was a running joke that every solo & ensemble competition you heard the "Rondo" to the point where you just wanted to jump out a window. So I would mix it up a bit and play the second movement, which wasn't heard quite as much.

Enjoyed it very much, not just for your arrangement, but for brining back some fun memories. I wonder if I still have the sheet music...

Switched-On Mo's Art
A splendid rendition, Dave. I remember when "Switched-On Bach" was all the rage. This would easily stand side-by-side with that.

Nicely done. ;)

Like Dick said
Bit of Wendy, and even Frank Zappa playing Francesco Zappa, and a whole lotta Dava. Good job, Mr J.

Thanks for the download
Since Flash refuses to load on my computer, downloads are the only way to hear stuff from MacJams now. I'd have wanted this in my David Jones Album anyway.

Nice Moog-ish realization of this favorite. Has a lighter, funner feel than the original usually does. Well done!

Ha!
I remember this from music class - performed by Barry Tuckwell on Horn if I recall correctly. This is a classy interpretation Dave - a nice set of compatible sounds, where you knew just what to leave in and what to leave out. A nice variety throughout to keep up interest. Kind of a Switched on Mozart. You're a talented guy and it's lovely to hear from you again!!

Also, I couldn't help but notice the tuba in the photo
As one who has tried tuba in the past, I can only imagine the difficulty in playing this rondo on that ponderous an instrument!

Great work Dave
I'm happy to have found your delightful production of this classic: I've taken a copy, ta.
Weird about inspiration: I've started 14 new projects in GB this month. Most of them are going nowhere but the rest... who knows?
Cheers, mate.
