Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen) and Variations

Description
Leonard Cohen's classic. This was the first orchestration to my piano playing that I tried - back in 2007 I think. Posted this in response to the "Hallelujah" thread

Hallelujah!
A new magnatone post (even if it's an old one).

When I first started arranging loops you were doing this, which explains why your later work is so wonderful. This is lovely Karen. RIP Lenny.

Thanks for a splendid tribute
In fact we sang it with our community choir last night

Excellent first shot.
It puts my early orchestrations to shame. It does establish the Magna Tone, if there is such a thing. Lush harmonies, flowing lines that characterize your music. Later stuff is more sophisticated while showing the same touch.
Hallelujah!

Stirring
I love the way you build the orchestration to such a sweeping and grand finish. Piano is beautifully played. It's lovely to hear from you again Karen!

I'd
quite like to hear a version without the orchestration as well.

Hi Karen - you did a wonderful job with this classic - I really enjoyed it. I'm not sure why we aren't seeing more from you. LC was definitely one of the greats!

Amazing.
A strong rendition of the tune with a lot of detailed touches in the orchestration. It makes it all the more amazing that this was your first effort at orchestration.

Very moving
and inventive. It's great following the threads of melody through the arrangement. It's kind of like a walk in the autumn through the woods, across a meadow, along the sea, and up on the ridge.

Hi Karen....
Here's hoping that you and yours are well.

I love this arrangement. It stirs my heart in some way...

Take care.

I missed this...
...but better late than not at all.
Nicely done, Karen. It is so much fun to layer orchestration above the ground base, and you do such a good job of it here. It's also nice to hear something new of yours, even if it's an old track. Glad I heard this this evening.

I've been reading...
...a bunch about Leonard Cohen this week, and he seems to be popping up everywhere...

I think this is one of the best songs ever written. Apparently only half the known world agrees with me...

The orchestration is sweet and stirring, but I also found myself listening through the mix to the piano playing underneath...I simply like the way you play piano, Karen...
