Great Mix Again!!!
Great intro, you have the ear to know strings are not "bright", "high", "brilliant" they are warm. IT'S THE BOW!!!
Lots of space, and the bass is solid with little effects. Bass players have that amp playing into there back, and there is no or little effects. Always consistant with your near flawless vocals... Graham Great Music too...

Time Machine
i guess i didn't catch the original. however i think you did a great job on this mix, crystal clean separation and dynamic mix to Graham' composition.

I
think part of that is due to more *subtle* saturation and distortion. Too much was making things to digital-ly.

What year?
Where is this time machine going? Don't leave without me. Only criticism is it is hard to hear lyrics at times and you don't have them for us to read.

Music arrangement was hot. Reminded me of sort of a combo of psychedelic and 70's pop rock. Vocal mix was good Probably just my old ears not working that good and it is late at night so I can't turn up the volume.

Thx Bronco
I use a lot of those old gear plugin emulations. The good ones help give things a little character, I feel, and it shows in the sound as a whole. I got more of a bit of an 80s feel, but I certainly hear some of your description also. As for the vocals, do you mean a little more volume or a little more clarity?

Vocals
What I was saying is that they were probably fine in the overall mix. It is just for me to hear them I needed to turn my volume up on the whole sound. First listening was late at night with other people in the house sleeping. Now today with the volume up I can hear fine.

Time Well Spent
Nice and clean with plenty of space in the mix.
Lots of nice music to work with, makes mixers job fun right.
The level of complexity here must have presented lots of choices to agonize over...
Great work on establishing a feel for the recording.

loving the fretless
vocals ain't too shabby either. that's both of you together, yes? the final guitar riff struck me as a tad bit "pasted on", but overall i really enjoyed this listen. thanks!

Hey Carbon
Everything on this is Graham. He just sent me the stems for mixing. My only contribution to the song is the extended crazy noise section during the break. Thanks man.

Absolutely pasted on
But that's not as serious as stealing Sam's voice! (Serious nonsense taking place here.)

Lyrics by Mark Rodgers and Graham Exton
The future has gone
The past sure is tense
I need a time machine

Time machine
Time machine

If I could go back to the past
I’d change it
Change everything around
Or at least rearrange it

In a parallel world I was never bad
On a parallel earth you were never sad
I need a time machine

The future has gone
The past sure is tense
I need a time machine

Destiny lies on the edge of a knife
The trivial act that can change your life
Fate is fixed, and time’s an arrow
The tunnel to the future’s narrow

Some things are better left unsaid
The words that leave your heart for dead
The ego thinks itself alone
And plunges us into the negative zone

Life’ll be the death, be the death of me, baby
Life’ll be the death, be the death of me

Everyone into the time machine!

First up, great song by Graham. Creative, poppy, quirky and stylistically so interesting. And his vocals and performance are first-rate. Seriously good mix, too, Sam. Space, clarity and depth are becoming your trademark. Bass sounds wonderful. Fine, fine song.
