Yamaha "CustomZ" tenor saxophone YTSZ82, Otto Link Super Tone Master 10* mouthpiece, Vandoren ZZ #3 reed, RadioShack 33-3004 dynamic microphone with XLR-1/4" line level transformer, iMic USB noicemaker, Maxell NC-II noice-cancelling headphones, iMac G4 800Mhz (1GB RAM).

yo had to look behind me while listening to some parts of this song. Just thought someone was behind me. Sent chills up my spine. Somebodies gotta work the graveyard shift rite. diggin that sax and how it swings from side to side and volume changes. Turned out really good, made me wanna dance

I love the break out after that into the wonderful funky

Thank you, dear. I did try to write a happy song, but my wife, after listening to the one of the first renditions, said: 'you call it happy? Sounds a bit suicidal to me...' - after that I added the intro... :)

Very cool transitions, playing and wonderful
expressiveness and articulations. So smooth. Nice level
and layering, drum choices, etc. the lead sax is too hot on
my system, creeping past the edge of distortion and
rubbing up against it too often. But a sweet track

Thank you! I'll check on the distortion; however, the "ZZ" sound is indeed very edgy, this is what Vandoren even advertize, it almost sounds like chorus in real life. I might get back to Vandoren Traditional reeds, after I kill a box of these.

Great effects, and very neat to listen to in headphones,
with all the panning.
Your tone reminds me of Paul Desmond.
Excellent ending. I can really hear the "breath" in your
tone (a good thing).

Being a sax player, I can dig the overdubbing of the saxes
in the background- not an easy task to say the least if you
did it the old school way (if you pitch shifted and copied,
well :p)
Sax has a tendency to distort easily with micing in a home
studio, I have the same problem. The effect at the
beginning are cool; the sax soli is on the edge of
distortion too.
Overall this is a pretty cool tune...

The background sax wap-waps is recorded as parts one by one, in real key. The "pack" soli is a pitch-shift :), I cheated...
