Description:
I wrote this song for my wife when she was on the other side of the world in the good old USA.

Now she's here and she has created this beautiful cover art for me. And if I'm good she might do the same for my other songs...

By the way, thanks pgreenstone and skipper for your help and advice on this. I hope you notice some improvement.

Lyrics:
I have been out here before but it's not how I remember
There's something missing, but something's found inside me now
I've been holding back forever, I've been waiting for this place
To rescue me again
This cold seclusion wraps around me and I am closer now
Than you could ever understand

Will the world find me out here? Up ‘til now I've stayed elusive
I've been missing but I've been warm here in the dark
I can feel something uprising, bringing with it clarity
My speculation fades
An empty bottle overflows with an ocean of the unfamiliar
Comfort I have craved

You're about to fall asleep
And guide me through this day
I'm liberated by my faith
Cos I know you will stay

The dark is pressing on my back, I think about a cold December
And I am solaced, I am warmed from deep within
Immortalise the flame on paper and unify a million things
That crash around my head
The burden of a thousand questions that held me down like gravity
Is burning up instead

You're about to fall asleep
And guide me through this day
I'm liberated by my faith
Cos I know you will stay

I'm sitting here under the trees
It's dark and cold and I've got nowhere to be
But my head is running around Philadelphia
In the heat of the day with a girl

I'm sitting here beneath these trees
It's dark and cold and I've got nowhere to be
But my head is running around in the city
In the heat of the day with a girl

Not only... &mdash 03/31/05 - 11:37:55 AM
does this have a professional sound, but it's also an excellent presentation to the MJ community. It was a pleasure getting a sneak preview of this tune. And, you've done a great job with the mix. I know you've put a bunch of time into this one. It really shows. You're style and voice are very marketable. The included original artwork that expresses the story of this tune is outstanding! Very creative. The description and lyrics add polish and a finishing touch. I've listened 3 times now and I love it. Great writing. Great guitar. Great use of the contest loops. Well done!

What talent you have Nolan. This song is superb.
Wonderful production. I sit here in awe. The vocals are
so smooth, the guitars are perfectly balanced and the
string support is right on. Excellent lyrics. High marks
from me. It's always a pleasure to listen to your work. I
think you'll have the first prize hands down.

evened out a bit with a tad more compression or
something.
Song is fantastic, nice job!

what a grower &mdash 04/15/05 - 06:22:46 AM
Hi Nolan dude,

Another very engaging song, some really nice lyrics, and
as always a very professional mix.

The thing about your tunes is, they often don;t
immediately smack me the face and say 'hey, listen to me,
I'm brilliant', but there will be one little thing that hooks
me in, then the more I listen, the better it gets. Just like all
my favourite music. as I said, a real grower, not a flash in
the pan.

nice one mate,
Kev

whole of music industry too for that matter!

You sound so much like the guy from Dream Theatre and
he's a Juliiard grad. Gorgeous song. You are a real talent.

Gee...a long time ago... &mdash 01/28/06 - 04:58:54 PM
I had an afternoon of running around Philadelphia in the heat of the
day with a girl...

You have the gift, Nolan of being really specific in your lyric writing,
and being SO specific that the songs become universal again...

I continue to love your abilities with vocals and melody, but you've also
got a head for arrangement...

Ed
