Description
Written by Stephen Hadley.
Lead Vocals - Danielle Boyd
Guitars and Bass - Ray Kainz
Violin - someone very talented and beautiful
Choir - a bunch of very talented and beautiful people
Trumpet-a really cool dude
Trombone-an even cooler dude
Sax-lovely lovely man, and cool dude too.
Additional BGVz - Stephen Hadley, Ray Kainz
Original concept for this tune was sketched out completely in GarageBand.
An Mbox and ProTools LE were used for final tracks and mixing, however some original loops from GB did make it to the final.
I couldn't get Amplitube to work properly in PT so I tracked electric guitar into GB, used the Arena Rock preset then bounced it out to ProTools.

Thanks to everyone for your time and comments on this one! Thanks to your advice i think this final version is much better. you can check it out here

Very cool
I got a lot of different vibes from this one - intro gave me a kind of LedZep feel, then I thought I heard a Gospel influence, then the chorus harmonies made me think of FleetwoodMac. Quite a ride!! Really well done, liked the horns & I'm a sucker for some slide.

Very cool
didn't really think of Zeppelin till you mentioned it and your right, it does
have a slight Zep flavor.

Thanks for checking out our tune!

Excellent
What can I say. I'm a sucker for well written and
performed rock and roll. Interesting vocals and especially
cool harmonies. I liked everything about this... my guess
is your not exactly new to this recording thing!
Thanks for posting this!

Excellent
Thanks for your comments aclarke. We have been recording for almost 20
years. Started out with a Tascam 8-track 1/2" smpte'd to an Atari sequencer.
We thought that was pretty hi-tech.

Thanks for your time and ears!

Good, dense texture
Lovely vocals. Who is she?

Again, another fun piece to listen to. Always
something happening. Liked the mix of funk and slide
guitar. Powerful chorus. Can I get a witness?

My only suggestion, spot, is more info to help us navigate
your material. Performers, lyrics, etc. Good artwork, too.

I look forward to hearing more of this Chicago sound.

The lead vocalist is a lovely young lady named Danielle. That's all I got right
now. I'll be posting a talent list soon, hopefully, as soon as i get it. anyway,
Thanks a bunch for your thoughts and time!

nice work
The artwork got me from the start...then it was the
pulsed intro leading into the slide guitar...then it was
the strong vocals...and then the chorus...really cool.
This reminded me of Primal Scream's "Come
Together" (especially near the end with the gospel-
like chorus and horns).

Nice Voice
The girl singing has an excellent voice and the song itself
is very well put together. I love the harmonies, and I also
like the slide guitar very much. This is so much better
than the vast majority of music submitted on this board.

Thanks for the payoff
On the first listen, I was really hoping you'd crank it out
for the second half of the song, and there it was. Very
cool.

Like a musical blender taking everything about good
Chicago music and serving it up. Awesome job.

That artwork! It's looking at me! I swear!
Cool track. Slide guitar is cool, massive vocals too. Just
watch your levels, could you? When that chorus comes in
the levels shoot through the roof.

Thanks for your time and thoughts TV. In the digital domain the "roof" would
be 0db. Through the roof would imply that the levels shoot up beyond 0db
like to +6db or +12 db etc. At no time during this piece do the levels exceed
0db which is to say they do NOT go through the roof. If the levels bother you,
don't look at your VU meter while listening. Now if the dynamics bother you
that's a different story.

Thanks again for listening Vic!

great song
I really liked everything about this song. Great production,
instrumentation, vocals/harmonies. Thanks for sharing! I
do think I agree with someone else's comment that the
levels during the chorus seem to go way too high. Cheers.

I love it
What a great hook! Really top notch writing.

The big choral section is a bit much for me. Maybe it's a
little too loud? Maybe it's just me.

I love the openness of the soundstage. Humongous
production.

I want to know more about the "horns". Some of the best
fakes I've heard on this site. Can I get me some?

Ahhhhhhh, I just x-referenced, it's the Eleveneyes show.
No WONDER I likes it so much!
spot said 1693 days ago (April 6th, 2005)
I love it
yeah, the choral section is a bit loud.
the horns are actually real. added some stereo delay and chorus to make
them sound a little less real actually.
I thought this would be a little too accessible for you Troy but I'm glad
you dig it.
this isn't the 11eyes show though, I just play a little guitar and mix. The guy
running the show is Steve Hadley. He's eye of this storm!
Thanks for your time, thoughts and comments Troy, good luck in the Tumi
contest!

great song
This is very cool. Great energy in this song, and of course
those vocals and choir-like harmony arragements are
fantastic. Just a great sound all around. One thing I'd
suggest is for the harmonies have only one voice
pronounce the "s" at the end of "dreams". The rest of the
voices sing it just as "dream". It's a choir trick.

Anyway, very inventive and captivating.

great song
Thanks for the suggestion on the "s" situation. We'll keep that in mind for
sure next time! I'm remixing the song and manually editting out some of the
s's thanks to your suggestion. This is why I LOVE this site.
Thanks again Peter for your thoughts and time!

Great collab
Very cool. Love the lead vocalist, the genre bender feel.
The size of the "chorus." Sound perfect in headphones;
the chorus saturates a bit in my speakers. Great
collaboration, feel, depth, tempo, result. I can feel the fun.

danielle and the family stone
wow. love your voice. i like the depth it has, the r&b girl in there waiting, the lower sounds. the chorus sounds a bit too pretty, almost too college choir sounding, taking away bit from the hip feel of the whole track. bit this is an absolutely excellent jam. like danielle and the family stone...

Very Well Done
I'm reminded of Lori Carson and Syd Straw's work with the
Golden Palominos but then given a gigantic Phil Spector
production.
Now to listen to the final mix - ah, much nicer to have the
chorus bg vocals less forward - and the mix is better overall.
