Description:
This is about truth, justice and the American Way! Any resemblance to categories, past ,present or future is purely coincidental and the names have been changed to protect the innocent.

Lyrics:
Too Old To Rock
Well I'm too old to rock and I get dizzy if I roll
Zinc and copper are the heavy metal that I know
Grungy is the way I look but Seattle is so far away

I love Western music but I don't have a saddle or a horse(or a hat)
I don't have a John Denver tenor so I guess that means I'm just not folk
But don't get me wrong, I'm gonna sing my song tonight

I sing the blues when I get so damn depressed
But sometimes I swing and then I feel so blessed
And if I have something to say
Production won't get in my way

Well I hope I'm progressive but I don't know if that's art
I feel like a punk but I know that I'm an old fart
And I'm too damn independent, and nobody's hip to my rap

You know I love that black gospel sound
And Chuck Berry told me I was lost but now am found
But if I smoke that Ganja I will be Jamaica bound

Very good performance and amusing lyrics.
I like the early 60's severe stereo separation production
you gave the instruments.

Thanks Mungo! I guess the old man still has a few notes left in him. The
panning right and left on the harmonica and guitar used up all the production
knowledge I had. Guess I will just have to wing it on songwriting, playing and
singing.

Thanks Tiler!!! Maybe I've hit my nitch. Don't be so damn serious when I write
songs and have a little more fun. Because this was really a gas to write and
sing too!

This made me laugh out loud, especially the line, "If I have
something to say/Production
won't get in my way."

Your production on this piece is perfect. Excellent Chuck
Berry impression on guitar.

Thanks Tom,

After getting bombed this keeps my spirit up. I guess my next song will be
about bombs. Actually there's another Tracy in the loop if I would just add my
part and finish it.

Why would someone bomb a nice song like this? I don't get it.

Witty lyics and great backing jams on the Telecaster.
Really liked the tune. Congratulations!

P.S. Added to favorites

Looks like someone bombed you. That's clear proof that
you're happening!

Thanks Allan,
Appreciate your coming by and giving a listen. And yeah, I'm still picking the
schrapanel out from that bomb!

Great licks... &mdash 04/09/05 - 01:25:22 AM
This has a great vibe. Your lead licks are beautiful on this
- though some work better than others. That one after
"saddle or a horse" is glorious. I like the percussion
picking up the song towards the edge too. Mix is fine by
the way.

I guess the bombing comes out of MacJamms culture
clash. Some people here present can make pretty
seamless music without laying a finger on an instrument -
nothing wrong with that. It's a fine art. But yours is the
opposite route. It's organic, human and if a note is slightly
mis-timed it doesn't matter if the emotion is right. In fact
it can actually add to the track.

Every time I listen to a bronco song I can picture you
hunched over your guitar; it's music that's very obviously
made right there and then and I think that's a great
quality.

I think there are quite a few who don't "get" that. If you're
raised on headphone music that direct vulnerable
warts'n'all quality can be quite perplexing.

Don't stop the serious & gloomy songs though. They're
my favourites!

Great licks... &mdash 04/09/05 - 10:18:02 AM
Thanks Mando(William),

The lick you like is a variation on a John Lee Hooker song about the hurricane
and flood that wiped out Galveston, TX back in the 20's. I forget the name of
it, it is rare because it was a solo acoustic guitar song which he did not do
very often.
I appreciate your remarks about actually playing rather than using loops but I
am getting tempted to try combining the two. I just can't ever find a drum
loop that works for my type of songs. I might have to buy some more
software.

Knowing the Backround (a bit) of the song
this is a Grand song and a Grand response
to those who doubt and judge.

Thanks for your support dwwave!!! It means a lot to know someone gets it! It
was supposed to be a toungue in cheek, fun thing but the emotions were
certainly honest and the playing real!

This is cool. A heartfelt parody. Sometimes it's easier to
milk the cow when you're doing a tongue-in-cheek thing.
You do a great job here. Love the guitar licks. I wish I
could play like that.

Thanks Richard! It was kind of scary that I was playing some Chuck Berry licks
and mentioning him in the song and then his piano player and co-writer of all
those great songs dies a few days later. I actually got to see him duck walk
across the stage from twenty feet away in the early 70's. One of those
performances you will never forget.

too old to rock?? &mdash 01/17/06 - 10:57:37 PM
damn, you are feeling blue, aren't you?
interesting lyrics and blues guitar playing, but I am more curious to hear a rock 'n' roll version of this (perhaps we can save that for a day when you feel young again)...you know, one of the best compliments a musician can get is that he doesn't sound like anyone else and has no "resemblance to categories past, present or future"....so, if you can't make up your mind about what to sing, just smoke a Ganja and be yourself...I like the simplicity and honesty of your songs

too old to rock?? &mdash 01/25/06 - 08:57:03 AM
Damn, you liked this old chestnut! Actually I probably had more fun doing
this song than any of my others. The category thing was because I dared to
post a song in the rock n roll genre and was promptly told that it wasn't rock.
Then I dared to post another in the alternative rock genere and got a lot of
the same feedback. So feeling a little peeved at all the so called experts who
knew where to post my songs when I didn't . . . the result was !!!
