Description:
I had to re-submit this song 'cause of some confusion about creative commons. Hopefully, I can get everyone to listen and vote for it as highly as they did before. I was extremely humbled by all the positive feedback this song recieved.

I took the original artwork down too. It wasn't mine, which was kind of the whole point of resubmission in the first place. I replaced it with a picture of my "strawberry" Strat.

Lyrics:
Strawberry
Dave Placko © 1999

She wears strawberries in her hair
One again I go to that place where
Love and obsession mingle and meld
In her hands my heart is held

Many times alike, as in the past
One look, one word; my heart beats fast
It goes without saying love is the greatest pain
Longing for the time when this longing wanes

Words and poetry are not enough for her
Ten thousand roses to make her heart stir
If only there were some way to make her mine
To be together 'till the end of time

She wears strawberries in her hair
Her skin is soft and fine, her voice so fair
Maybe one day we will meet again
I'll hold my heart in check until then, oh!

She wears strawberries in her hair!
She wears strawberries in her hair!
She wears strawberries in her hair!
She wears strawberries in her hair

Excellent &mdash 04/08/05 - 02:51:11 AM
I didn't hear this the first time around. Excellent all
around.
My only suggestion I have is to add some song art - it
helps catch people's eyes as they are browsing through
the songs.

Thank you for the lyrics. &mdash 04/08/05 - 09:05:46 AM
Great writing. Great performance. Thought the bass was a bit low in the mix. Tight tune. Love the lead guitar. Drums are kick ass also.

Very nice rockin' tune. You have a wonderful voice and your lyrics are
very moving...reminds me of Green Day's '1,000 Hours' in the fact that
it's kind of a rock love song. Hopefully my comparison didn't offend
you, but hey, it's good! You won me over! Excellent!

Here we are... &mdash 02/26/07 - 10:38:31 PM
just about two years later!

I'm all the way with you on this; So full guitar sound all around, capped with a super lead, then you have that nice prose delivered with a spine chilling vocal.

What a great song, Dave, sorry I have missed it until now

Better strawberries &mdash 02/28/07 - 10:21:11 AM
Love the retro feel. Something wonderfully balanced, maybe too balanced, about all the crafted line lengths and rhymes. Thanks for mentioning this track and sorry for missing it before. I like that your guitar has replaced the unable-to-please girl on the couch, that made me smile! I used to love strawberries, but most come from far away and just don't taste the same anymore. Ah, the fruit of our youth!

I hear ya, bro &mdash 02/28/07 - 11:53:19 PM
All the strawberries in Alaska come from a hot house in California. Eh, I eats 'em anyway...usually with fresh cream!

Thanks for the listen.

I really like the guitar on this one. Great folk rock track. Perfect mix of acoustic and electric guitars, with a very nice bass in the background. Are you playing the bass too? A bet this track goes down a treat live.
