Lyrics

i thought i knew the way
coming 'cross the ice...
i thought i'd bought it 'til
i lost the fear of taking flight

as when gone into a sleep
-a sickness so deep
days recede to vague
and distant lights...

where the weight means nothing...

and now i would give up these things
-if only to see you there
but somehow i gave up my wings
-all for a breath of air...

Very nice
That's just a nice song. Fresh, original. I don't hear a lot of
things like that. Great voice — reminds me just a hair of
Peter Gabriel. Super lyrics. Just plain cool. I'd like to offer
suggestions, but it's too darn cool a song to muck it up.

I disagree
with Zendog....in that you don't sound a hair like Peter Gabriel, you sound uncanningly like him! BTW, he is one of my all time favs. Production is great. I especially like the way you merge into an uplifting beat toward the middle. Very good lyrics. There was one small thing that distracted me and that was the synth, primarily because I have heard it so many times before. However, I understand why you chose that sound as it adds to the mood of the song. I am very impressed with your stuff and will be watching for your posts.

thanks for your posts-it's true, i love PG-this song is definately a nod to PG,
blue nile, et al-i agree about the strings-i'm getting the jam pack 4 this week
so i'll fix it up slightly and tweak the chorus a little-mean while i'll post some
stuff that's a little different--thanks for your comments!

But where's the costume?
Yup, all that's missing is the black leotard and the big
flower headress.

impressive. I don't know what it is, but its comforting.

Ditto in the Gabriel
This song reminds me of one of my fave songs- Here
Comes the Flood (sung by Peter Gabriel, of course). I
agree with K.I.S.KISMET that the synths were a bit out of
place, but this was a beautiful song! I wish it were a tad
bit longer, but I guess you left me wanting more! Nice job!

Like the voice . . . . .
You do sound like Peter Gabriel. I like the style.
I like it, it isn't overly done. I am hearing it again as I'm
typing.

The Peter Gabriel Crackle
The resembalance is uncanny.

I find the song really bland and simple and it never opens
up except for a far too fast and repetitive disco drum
beat. Sorry, "Here Comes the Flood" eats this for
breakfast.

But I love the vocal style. Sing more!
Kevensor said 1686 days ago (April 11th, 2005)
Great vocals!
Again, Your vocals really stand out as the star. However your weakness would be in the composition of the song. This started out nice but, You need to punch it in a bit, rather than use the loops to make the song.

If you play an instrument, start with that and then use the loops as supporting material. Since we've all heard the loops in GB a thousand times they get old fast.

Another vote for Peter Gabriel
It's good that you like PG, because you sound quite like
him.

This is a good song. Soulful, nice build-up. I like the
sparse instrumentation. Unexpected combinations, but
overall it works. I'm not crazy about the drum loop in the
middle though.

Reminds me...
of Seal. Beautiful song. Thanks for sharing. I'll hold off on
voting and hope you include lyrics, artwork and stuff that
puts the finishing touch on this masterpiece.

thanks!
thanks for all your comments-talk about peter gabriel
comparisons! i knew i'd listened to him a lot-i just didn't
know how much!
i agree the mid section is a little pale-i'll try some diff.
loops and i've got the jam pack 4 coming...i really want to
keep it in that 80's style though-another work in
progress-thanks for your kind posts.

Beyond gravity
Your poetic sense is stunning. And how you let your
powerful lyrics pull everything along, and the music is like
gravity keeping it afloat, absolutely wonderful. Truly
artistic.

Giving wings
You like wings, a wonderful metaphor. Excellent
companion piece with "angel of small". Mmm, such a fell
your voice brings.

Thank you...
for adding the lyrics. I've voted. And this song gets very high marks from me. Very moving song. And eventhough your vocals are reminiscent of various famous artists, you have a style of performance all your own. Thank you very much for sharing your music here. Beautiful.

Very Peter-Gabriel-esque
Very impressive vocal....reminiscent of PG to say the least. I would
agree with one of the previous comments about that disco-esque
drumbeat in the middle. That's the only flaw I see in the song.
Impressive :)
