Fan List
Keywords:
pop (478)pop (478)peep (1)
Description:
I always forget to turn off the metronome when I start a new track. Rather than get mad, I started running with it.

The chirps at the end is a toy my cat loves, so this song drives her crazy. Rich Schletty gets credit for picking the genre for me (and listening to an early version).

The photo comes from a website selling the Bo Beep outfit, so knock yourself out ("sexy bo peep" at google images and you're set). I have a picture of Fairy Beth in this exact get up, but she said if I posted it she'd never come to Iowa. So drop me an email if you want it. Heh!

I do not have Tumi-Tourette's Syndrome, but this is a contest entry.

Lyrics:
Pop Pop Peep.

Hardware:
Tascam US-122. M-Audio Nova mic (with a pop screen). Powerbook 1.67 Ghz G4 1 GB RAM. A cat toy. Finger snaps.

Software:
GB2 only. I'm thinking this is exactly what Steve Jobs envisioned this app would be used for.

This is a "pop" song ... literally. Amusing concept.

Well, the pop concept wasn't mine. Or at least calling it such wasn't.

Even better than the version you let me preview. More
definition on the POP POP PEEP. Good thing you used a
"Pop" screen.

I actually like the fact it's drum sounding. I'd set up my standard vocal effects,
and with the metronome going, it filled out. I don't know what got me going
along with. I was stone sober (it was like 9 am) and I just started doing it.
Record was already going, I only wish I'd gone longer. I don't think I could
plan this, so a retake was pretty much not going to happen.

I so Hear Ya on this one &mdash 04/11/05 - 07:17:05 AM
That damn ticker in Garageband. It is most certainly
annoying. Very fun, original, and I love the artwork.

Would love to hear a sequel called "Peep Peep Pop". Good
Work.

I have a file called "Spoken Word" on my machine. It has the metronome
turned off, has snap to grid off, has the software instrument track deleted,
and has a basic track created with the audio inputs to mono. It also defaults
to my typical voice setting (saved a setting as "Christopher.").

This works great, I immediately do a "save as" to the name of the project I am
working on, and modify that file. I can modify the "Spoke Word" file, but then
you have to be careful to do a save as archive, which my way avoids.

Oh, and you can have the .band file for a remix any time you like.

Vox Populis... &mdash 04/11/05 - 10:46:37 AM
The Voice of the Peeple. I do like this better than your
early draft. The more purposeful pneumatic pops and
peeps are less like involuntary muscle spasms (Tourette
Syndrome), less sheepish. Excellent attack and finish on
each P sound. My only nit is that I feel the 14th pop
should have been a peep.

Vox Populis... &mdash 04/13/05 - 07:06:11 PM
I did agonize over that 14th pop, but artistic demands dictated I stay honest
to the form.

What amazes me it how damn catchy this thing is with as minimal as it is. If
the contest requirements allowed for it, there wouldn't be the harp in there. It
was hard to find anything that didn't overwhelm what was going on.

I did go back and record 2 minutes of metronome, since after bouncing the
vocal/drum track 3 times and adding effects, the "drums" were getting lost.

U2 vibe from this tune. The pop pop peeps are amusing, but got a bit old for me. I would have loved to hear some literal storytelling mixed in somewhere. But, that's just me I guess. Thx for sharing this unique tune.

The "lyrics" are the whole joke. It's only a two minute song! If they got to you,
probably not your thing.

Most my other tracks are literal storytelling, so got away from it this time.

Definitely Peep or maybe Pop &mdash 04/11/05 - 10:20:03 PM
Whenever I think of the Peep genre or the better-known
Pop genre, this song will certainly come to mind!

Good Song but the Picture steals the show. Rated high because of it. there should be more pics like it. in fact, from now on, i think everyone should have pictures like that for their songs.

Now to the matter at hand, You say you have a pic of Fairy Beth in that exact constume....?

That cover art is as close to copyright violation as I'll come. I consider it fair
use though and if it gets taken down (hasn't so far), then free advertising will
end for that outfit, and that would be a damn shame.

John Cage consults for the 100th time the I-Ching &mdash 04/14/05 - 10:17:45 PM
to determine the next word he's going to utter, and to his
amazement yet again pops up "peep". Or peeps up "pop".

This was fun!

Not sure why the thing is on by default. I can see some people wanting one,
but I would think so seldom you'd want it to be invoked, not on by default.
And "pop" is the only word that could come to mind when listening. The
"peep" is where my true creativity shows through!

the metronome has been changed to peep, peep, pop. Go figure.

Cheers Chris
