Description:
This is a sad sad story. Due to budget cuts, the single brew coffee machine will no longer be in service. Curse this day!

Lyrics:

9 to 5 has become 8 to 6
and there ain't nothin' left in my old bag of tricks

the clock is stuck and there's been budget cuts
you've got me strapped to this desk like I'm some kind of putz
And right now I'd even take a cup of chok full of nutz and that's nuts...

I want some coffee
I need some coffee

Don't you know that
Coffee is the only thing that gets me through the day
and its gone and its gone you've taken it all away
I'm trying hard to stay focused, I don't mean to freak out
but its wrong and its wrong to crunch numbers without - some coffee

You cut our coffee just to save a few bucks
It's not like we've been drinkin' the cafe deluxe

There's a little green light saying ready to brew
Now I'm looking around for a ground bean or two
And it's easy to see what the lack of caffeine will do

I want some coffee
I need some coffee

Don't you know
It doesn't really matter whether dripped, pressed or perked
let it flow, let it flow then we'll get overworked
You can grind it coarse or fine or somewhere in between
Just make sure, just make sure that there's plenty caffeine

you've got me strapped to this desk like I'm some kind of putz
And right now I'd even take a cup of chok full of nutz and that's nuts...

I want some coffee
I need some coffee

Don't you know that
Coffee is the only thing that gets me through the day
and its gone and its gone you've taken it all away
I'm trying hard to stay focused, I don't mean to freak out
but its wrong and its wrong to crunch numbers without - some coffee

We dont use "daylight saving time"? " summere time"? (how do u call it acctyually?) in japan here, and i have been wondering how does it feel to live in 1 hour earlier.

Now i know u need coffee to wake u up 1 hour eaelier kmaoooo.
i just hope that coffee is not cappuccino coz according to our theory, cappuccino is g@y :p

clear vocal made the song as very funny pop tune with loops. i liked it!

Thanks for the feedback! Yes... daylight savings time is a bummer. But at least the sun's still out when I get home!

I feel your pain... &mdash 04/12/05 - 03:08:18 AM
How can they expect someone with an Italian name to
work without coffee? This is so witty and dynamic.
Congratulations. Plus there's mandolin on there, which
obviously makes it great.

I feel your pain... &mdash 04/12/05 - 09:32:33 AM
Hey thanks... the mandolin was near my computer since I've been recording some mandolin parts for one of Tobin's tunes... I probably wouldn't have put it in this song otherwise!

Don't it figure &mdash 04/12/05 - 05:38:02 AM
The first thing to go is the thing that keeps you going.

First of all- this is really well done in every way. Vocals,
guitar, mandolin and a very cool synth solo. Add to the
fact it's about a subject near and dear to my heart and it's
very close to perfect. Groovy!

Where were you when I needed another lyric?!?!?! "The first thing to go is the thing that keeps you going." Would've fit perfectly! Thanks for the feedback.

Awesome! &mdash 04/12/05 - 06:29:33 AM
Not normally my type of music style, but i love this song.
I was borj in Finland where they feed coffee to baby's so
this is a very important subject to me as I can't imgaine
one day without this life saving fluid! :) The song is very
cool also - it almost has bit of Stray Cat Strut over it (I
know I am bending it far here)... I love the Mandolin, such
a beautiful instrument.

BTW &mdash 04/12/05 - 06:30:57 AM
I would not be all that suprised if any of the coffee
manufacturers (or their ad agencies) out there would be
interested in someting like this???

Drinking coffe right now..
Wonderful song, well sung, played etc. And funny too.
Seems to me that you've been doing this for a while. Very
proffessional. Reminds me of a Weird Al tune :)

Great track! &mdash 04/12/05 - 06:52:58 AM
You got a great knack for writing engaging lyrics. Got me
in a fun mood this morning. Great instumentation and
vocals. Thanks again
p.s. you want some methamphetamines?

Instant Classic &mdash 04/12/05 - 08:35:03 AM
Roast!! I give the song a 9. Great lyrics, melody and song
structure. Performance I give an 8 only because I wasn't
fond of the synth solo, otherwise loved the classic rock
sound. But hey my work never payed for ours we always
had to collect among ourselves. But the boss would pop
for pizza if we worked until 9. Let's see - three hours of
unpaid overtime for three slices of pizza. What a deal!!

I just had a cup &mdash 04/12/05 - 08:56:59 AM
...and I want more.

Nice song. Rhythmic lyrics.

How could someone not want to drink coffee after hearing
this?

nice well done tune &mdash 04/12/05 - 09:25:51 AM
Good going
I don't drink much caffeine but I have to say this is
outstanding. I think you ought to work for Folgers as
their singer and song writer :)

Good song, creative arrangement, and of course a subject
close to my heart.

I need at least 5 cups &mdash 04/13/05 - 09:16:05 PM
I would go on strike. Love the mandolin and the synth.

Brewin' a good tune &mdash 04/14/05 - 08:57:13 AM
Ain't it the truth. Flute as a solo instrument is too
underused in all genres. And the mandolin solo is also a
breath of fresh air, but the Moog solo after it is totally
cool; both are like a bored imagination going someplace
else, like someone strapped to their desk at work... Dig
the rhyming of "putz" too. Perhaps the song is indeed too
true. I've started drinking chai.

aw great track &mdash 04/15/05 - 01:03:49 PM
lovin this...its great how you can make a song about
something as normal and 'insignificant' as coffee. Of
course, I realise it is quite significant to your life!! Great
song, very catchy. Good, strong, confident vocals.

done! Cheers.
