Description:
this is the song i sing at an annual family and friends gathering every summer. when one of our own passed away suddenly, the song took on new meaning for all of us. it's basically affirmation that there is nothing in this world more precious than the ones we love.

i hope you enjoy and thanks for checking it out! ;o)

Lyrics:
Mr. Robinson

Here we are, gathered together again.
No better time alive than being with friends.

Cuz I feel so fine, why can't this last forever?

Take my hand let's forget all the things that we said.
Let's turn all our tears into laughter instead.

Cuz I feel so fine, why can't this last forever?

So, come for an hour or stay for the day
as long as you're here, it don't matter anyway!

Let's sit down and listen for a while
Mr. Robinson's making everyone smile

Cuz I feel so fine, I think this may last forever!

He says, "Play your guitar and I'll crack open a beer.
Play us a song and make sure it's sweet...
...keep us tappin' our feet!"

So, come for an hour or stay for the day
as long as you're here, it don't matter anyway!

Here we are, gathered together again.
No better time alive than being with friends.

Nice folky tune &mdash 04/16/05 - 02:16:21 AM
I like that acoustic riff, and the harmony vocals
throughout are very well done. The song has a nice 'live'
feel to it and isn't overproduced - which I like too.

Very Good &mdash 04/16/05 - 04:26:24 AM
I enjoyed your singing and playing and arrangement of
your vocal harmonies. The recording has a slightly distant
feeling and I think it would benefit more if it sounded like
you were closer to the mic. And the guitar figure on the
verses sounds awful familiar (my minds says "John Prine"
which is odd because I haven't heard Prine in almost 30
years), but I can't put my finger on it though.

Sweet and melancholy &mdash 04/16/05 - 12:34:47 PM
What a beautiful, touching song. It was easy to 'fall into'
this song -- like drifting down a lazy river in a canoe,
softly paddling along, peaceful and content. The only
suggestion I could make is let that final guitar note fade
away, instead of cutting off. But that's a very small thing.
Wonderful job, Boris.

stevel, mungo, and joanna - thank you for such wonderful feedback. this is a
tune i've been playing for a while now, so it was nice to finally put down on
"tape." even better having a place where folks might hear it. your thoughts
are very much appreciated!

Fantastic &mdash 05/03/05 - 07:23:06 PM
This is really well done. Tasteful and pure.

Funny (ironic-funny, not haha funny) how a songs
meaning can change- that's what I love about music.

reminds me of Kings of Convenience &mdash 05/20/05 - 09:50:25 AM
Really enjoyed this. I love the sound you got off of the
guitar. Really nice and mellow. I'd like to know what
microphone you used for both the guitar and your voice.
I'd watch the intonation in the vocals. A little under pitch
at times. But a real strong track. 8-8-8-8

Beautiful &mdash 05/25/05 - 06:28:23 PM
Nothing to say that could improve this. I like all aspects.
Lyrics are interesting, melody is sweet, singing excellent
and the guitar riff is unique and effective.

if i had neighbours they'd be very pleased - this song's going to be on repeat for the next few hours.
with such a sweet and forgiving tune - can you blame me? i'm loving the tones you can squeeze out of a cf martin d15 and the vocal high notes are carried off very nicely! thanks so much for sharing!

Honest and simple, the acoustic riff really makes it sound comforting and homey! It's very touching and slightly melancholy.
