Lyrics
I went too far into something weird
can I turn now?
I seconded guessed I guess

I wanna shine like I always do
when I'm happy
now I'm a fucking mess

Don't wanna tell you I'm sorry
when I'm not sorry
You trivialize my pain

If I'm not pleasant enough to you
it's a pity
Believe me I’m not the same

If my battle is inside
I have to hide
'cause I know you never learn
the deeper meaning
Wish I was a child again
I knew my world back then
All I think about is how
can I turn now

I went along with the things
I feared that would hurt me
to hide that I was afraid

You came along at a bad time
wishing to change me
My plans were already made

And now I see it's a lot to
ask of somebody
You look like a question mark

'cause when you see my bright skin
and my shining eyes
you'd never think that I was this dark

But my battle is inside
I'll have to hide
'cause I know you'll never learn
the deeper meaning
Wish I was a child again
I knew my world back then
All I think about is how
can I turn now

Wish I was a child again
I knew my world back then
All I think about is how
can I turn
can I turn
now

I went to far into something weird
can I turn now
(I went too far into something weird)

I went to far into something weird
can I turn now
(I went too far into something weird, can I turn now?)

Nice reinvention of a great song
Great bass; really lively drums too. A fantastic groove. It's
still a great song, too.

Two things:

That pause after "trivialize the pain"... and on other verses
- could it be a bit more definite? I'm a sucker for stop/
start songs.

The only other thing is the vocals on the chorus seem a
little thin on this version - against the beefier backdrop. If
they had less FX would they stand up more?

Anyway, I'm hardly an expert. It's a very lovely piece of
work - again. Big points.

Nice reinvention of a great song
This is why I love Macjams - always constructive feedback!

I'll try playing a bit more with the pauses, I thought the
first start / stop was quite defined while the other less
(the last one perhaps too little even). I'm a sucker for start
/ stop songs as well so I know where you're coming from.

I don't quite hear the thin vocals though. It is the same
effect as on the original with some extra track echo. It
might just be because I run Volume Logic in iTunes
though, I'll check it out without it. Maybe that's just the
sort of compression this song needs ;)

Personally speaking
I really, really enjoyed this. Love the pacing of the vocals
and they sound sooo good!

Percussion was excellent on this- perfect with the
bassline. Sorry- I'm not a very harsh critic. Real nice job
here... again!

Personally speaking
Well, not all reviews have to be harsh to be taken seriously. Pure compliments
are good for the ego, hehe :)

I still like it!
I really like the change in the overall feel to this. Although I liked how the vocals were more "up front" in the other mix.

Still a damn good song!

Any ideas on how to punch up the vocals a bit? I feel just upping the volume
unbalances the mix. But then again I am mix-blind (or should that be deaf) at
this stage. Maybe I'll take fresh look at it in the morning.

cool piece
Who's the vocalist? She has the perfect voice for this tune,
hip, childlike. Have not heard the original version, I'll
check it out.

Caroline Ingeberg, a semi-established (and much more professional artist than
we are) vocalist from Norway. You can check out more of her work (in the jazzy
pop genre) here:

Awesome song
The voice should have a bit more clarity. Try doing a clone
of the vox track, setting one track to minimal reverb and
the other to moderate reverb.
