Description:
This song is about two people who have long since separated and gone their seperate ways. After many years apart, the guy hears the name again and it brings back a ton of memories that had never really been forgotten, just placed to one side.

It's basically about how you never forget your first love and how, by making contact again years later things will inevitably have moved on and although you know things will never be the same as they were, there's a history that can never be taken away and each will never forget the other.

Massive thanks to ronnielong for creating the drum track and really helping me to get the feeling I was looking for. You can hear more of ronnielong's work here. (http://www.macjams.com/users.php?mode=profile&uid=2302)

Lyrics:
So, how you doin' now?
I heard you were in town and thought I'd phone.
Has anything changed? It's impossible to know.
But do me a favour, and tell me do you...

Do you remember the night when we walked miles to get home late in the pouring rain?
You got a blister from your shoe.
Do you remember the way that you said you would never do those things again?
That was the first time we saw through, the things we thought were true.

So, your life's quite different now?
You've got a different name, you live in a new town.
Have you changed so much, from the girl I used to know?
We may not be together, but I still see you...

And though that night was short I've lived it over and over inside my head.
And though the rain's not coming through my shoe I feel like I'm still there.
And I still see the way you looked at me... Do you still see the way I looked at you?

Do you remember the night when we walked miles to get home late in the pouring rain?
You got a blister from your shoe.
Do you remember the way that you said you would never do those things again? That was the first time that I knew, my heart belonged to you...

Brilliant Vocal &mdash 04/22/05 - 10:48:22 AM
Hey Wifty

Love the production and the vocal on this. The Takemine
sounds great.

You have a gorgeous voice. &mdash 04/23/05 - 09:49:28 PM
Wonderful phrasing. I think the drum overpowers the rest of the song at times; your vocals are the star!

Excellent &mdash 04/23/05 - 11:07:21 PM
One of the best tunes I've heard on this site.
Very well done. You're a pro, man. Rock on!

very forgettable &mdash 04/24/05 - 03:35:53 AM
which is probably why it got rated low at least initially by
some, and why I also give it just average ratings across
the board. The song has no chorus, and just wanders
around and around and doesn't really get to any point. It
is far from a satisfying earmeal. This is not to say that
other songs on this site that have higher ratings are
necessarily better, but that the artists of those songs
often get more "popularity votes". I find this
"popularity voting" thing on macjams extremely
distasteful, but there are so many other wonderful things
about the site, that I'm willing to overlook the negatives.
Cheers.

Good tune &mdash 04/24/05 - 12:37:30 PM
The cymbals are a little up front for my taste, after a while
they just kind of get in the way.

need to clarify my comments... &mdash 04/24/05 - 02:23:35 PM
My apologies for my rather caustic entry here; I went
straight from reading the "BOMBED!" posting in the
forums, to this song page, and made my comments on
this song, based on that thread. I do still stand by my
comments on it here, but they were written in the context
of that thread. Sorry you got caught in the middle of it
Wifty. Cheers.

great vocals &mdash 04/24/05 - 04:45:58 PM
loved your vocals very much. i agree. its the star of this
song. the drums seemed to overpower everything else
and did not really fit in.... otherwise, i liked the song very
much!

Whoah &mdash 04/25/05 - 02:03:18 AM
I was trying to work out why all of a sudden I had loads of
comments on this song and Daphna's comments kind of
threw me a bit. Now I've seen the bombing thread it
makes a bit more sense.

Daphna, I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the song, especially as
I've had positive comments from you in the past. I can't
say I agree with your comment about the cong having no
chorus but I'd like to thank you for being so honest. I
often think people are a bit scared to say what they think
when they really don't like a song. There's nothing more
frusatrating than getting low ratings and not knowing
exactly what those people didn't like about your song.

It's kind of refreshing to hear someone who really doesn't
like a song being totally honest about what it is they don't
like and you have a lot of respect from me for that, I
appreciate it.

Cheers

Si

I like this song &mdash 04/25/05 - 06:03:42 AM
I just got through reading the "bombed" post. I don't
know about anybody else, but I like this song. You sing it
very soulfully. I read the other post about it not having
any chorus - so what?!! It's a good song. Sounds a lot
better than most drivel on the radio. Rock on!

Yo Si!

Great job with the Final mix mate!! I obviously like the
tune...thats why I made so much trouble ;)..... I am glad I
got a chance to "jam" with ya...you are a real talent here...
and the LAST thing I wanted to do was over power that
voice of yours with the Drums..so I left it up to you.. and
hey, If you like the Drums mate, thats good enough for
me! ;)

But you may want to think about posting an "acoustic
version" for a better rating. Don't let me get in the way....

Cheers Si..

BNL &mdash 04/26/05 - 01:41:27 AM
Wow, Nice song wifty. I really though the song, but
especially the lyrics had the feel of most of what the Bare
Naked Ladies do, but what never gets radio play (which I
think is their best stuff).

I just read that last sentence and it is not well formed but
I'm not sure how to say it better. Its like a BNL B-side
which is the complete opposite of their Pop radio releases,
in a good way? LOL thats not any better explanation than
before.

I liked it!

Really Nice &mdash 05/02/05 - 06:46:20 PM
Your music is very appealing and quite moving. It's some
of the best stuff I've heard here, or at least that I've taken
the time to listen too. As far as the no chorus comment,
isn't "Do you remember the night when we walked miles
to get home late in the pouring rain?
You got a blister from your shoe.
Do you remember the way that you said you would never
do those things again?" 1 extra line, the chorus? That's
where the musical change happens, and it repeats. You
change the last line but it's like the chorus is evolving and
that makes it interesting, not forgettable.

Jeesuuus! I just LOVE your voice! And your subject matter is one everyone
can relate to. I'm a new huge fan.

Yeah, those drums can come down a little.
