Lyrics
Verse 1
In the dark alone
Having one more smoke
Red coals, warm fireplace
Remind you of brighter days
When you'd walk them just for show
All too see how far you could go
Your steps fan the flames
As you light the way

Chorus
Tell me what you know
And tell me it isn't so
Cause I gotta know

Verse 2
A lonely stretch of road
And not too far to go
Each time I pass this way
I'm thankful for the day
Then I came in through the door
Like a hundred times before
Minutes pass away
And that is when I say

Chorus
Tell me what you know
And tell me it isn't so
Cause I gotta know

Verse 3
Ringing telephones
Too bad there's nobody home
The governor passed away
Don't pardon me to say
I'm the same as before
No worse for all that I (war)
Got something for the pain
And my hands now clothe my face

Chorus
Tell me what you know
And tell me it isn't so
Cause I gotta know

Verse 4
Two more feet of snow
And a few months left to go
Winter ain't set in yet
It's the coldest I've ever been
People darken my door
Their shadows crowd the floor
Locked up 58 days
And my last nerve took the train

Chorus
Tell me what you know
And tell me it isn't so
Cause I gotta know

Like the feel
of this. Cool lyrics... one of the best sung efforts I've
heard from you!

I think this would sound great with just acoustic guitar
mic'd up properly... would give you a much warmer sound
that I think would benefit the tune. (Has the sound of an
elc/acoustic plugged in).

Like the feel
Also- no big deal but it sounds more soft rock/ adult than folk. Think it fits
either way, however.

Thanks for the feedback,AC. It's always tough to tell exactly what genre's
what sometimes. I think you're right though, I'll switch the category.

Enjoyed it very much
Pretty song and the chorus is a very nicely melodic
complement to the verses. The change on the final
choruses was nicely done as well.

Sounds like the reverb on the vocal varies as you go along.
Not sure how you pulled that off but it was tastefully
done.

You might want to bring up the guitar more on the break.
I had some trouble picking it out.

NIce job
Really cool tune. Good lyrics, love the sound of the guitar,
though I've got to agree with Alan on the lead in the
break, it needs to come up a bit. Vocals are real good
too.

Not So Dark
Nice rhythmic feel and melody serve to offset some of the
darkness of the lyrics, which I didn't find that dark to start
with. Guess my anti-depressant is working! I liked it. Very
nice overall sound. I've started trying to figure out who
you guys influences were. You've definitely got your own
thing and hit quite a few styles. This one had a little bit of
that Doors "People are Strange" thing going on.

The strength of a good hook
Man, you guys know how to make a song great with the most
basic raw production. I love it. Great lyrics, melody, singing,
and catchy guitars. Sure, production could be better (mostly
recording aspect) but it's not interfering with me getting into
this song at all. It rocks from the heart.

Your lyrics are excellent. I daydream and see the images you are painting... they are invading my brain... I am starting to think like you... damn you!!!

NARLY
Damn I like this song! It's got low down beer drinkin closet smokin qualities. I am a sucker for a good melodic campfire jam! Nice on Jibbles and Bibbles!
