Lyrics
Verse 1
In the dark alone
Having one more smoke
Red coals, warm fireplace
Remind you of brighter days
When you'd walk them just for show
All too see how far you could go
Your steps fan the flames
As you light the way
Chorus
Tell me what you know
And tell me it isn't so
Cause I gotta know
Verse 2
A lonely stretch of road
And not too far to go
Each time I pass this way
I'm thankful for the day
Then I came in through the door
Like a hundred times before
Minutes pass away
And that is when I say
Chorus
Tell me what you know
And tell me it isn't so
Cause I gotta know
Verse 3
Ringing telephones
Too bad there's nobody home
The governor passed away
Don't pardon me to say
I'm the same as before
No worse for all that I (war)
Got something for the pain
And my hands now clothe my face
Chorus
Tell me what you know
And tell me it isn't so
Cause I gotta know
Verse 4
Two more feet of snow
And a few months left to go
Winter ain't set in yet
It's the coldest I've ever been
People darken my door
Their shadows crowd the floor
Locked up 58 days
And my last nerve took the train
Chorus
Tell me what you know
And tell me it isn't so
Cause I gotta know
In the dark alone
Having one more smoke
Red coals, warm fireplace
Remind you of brighter days
When you'd walk them just for show
All too see how far you could go
Your steps fan the flames
As you light the way
Chorus
Tell me what you know

of this. Cool lyrics... one of the best sung efforts I've
heard from you!
I think this would sound great with just acoustic guitar
mic'd up properly... would give you a much warmer sound
that I think would benefit the tune. (Has the sound of an
elc/acoustic plugged in).
