Very nice tune :) &mdash 04/19/05 - 10:10:43 AM
Like the talking mixed with the terrific back up
harmonizations. Great words I think.

I like how the harmonizations are fit with the lead vocal.
Very nice. Also the how the harmonizers get the lead too.
Good going.

very ambitious... &mdash 04/19/05 - 02:19:54 PM
...and touching, too! I think the thing that gives this
good balance is the rapping and hip hop elements.
The only thing that bugged me a little on my second
(and closer) listen was the high feel-good
background strings and the fact that the singing in
the chorus was a little too sweet and multilayered.
There is enough strength in the message of this tune
that you don't need to over-sweeten it. Overall, very
good work, though!

what a display of sheer talent. Simple yet complicated..everything in the right place. This is a perfect example of why music is able to knock down barriers.

such a great warm groove.

outstanding &mdash 04/19/05 - 08:47:04 PM
Truly, this is wonderful. I love the way the strings build
during the verses. There's a transparent quality to this
that is so professional--like each voice and instrument
has it's own place, yet reflect off each other to create a
sparkling symphony of sounds. I, too, was left awestruck.
Hats off to all of you. Thank you for sharing this song.

I will have to run this a few more times to
understand and digest the full meaning of the song.
At a gut level, it sure sounds good. I like succinct
delivery in a song. You sure deliver the goods here.
This is energized flesh and blood.

Grammy? &mdash 04/20/05 - 06:19:18 AM
Mainstream perfect strike. Hardly a 10 for uniqueness, but
hits the bull's eye from many angles and has such fine
performances and production it is the closest to a
Grammy winner I've heard, which, again, speaks to its
effective whitebread parts, albeit puzzled together with
care. Isn't it interesting the we can tell (or think we can)
the rapper is black, the soprano is white, but what skin
color is the baby?

Can't fault the production &mdash 04/20/05 - 12:50:43 PM
But I really dislike this.

Don't like the rap-style singing atall.

The sentiment is too obvious. Like a children's pop-up
book. You can get your poinjt across without being so
obvious.

The baby talk- ugh. The word nausueating coems to
mind.

Overall, off the scale on the smarmy-o-meter.

Sorry, I've given your songs 10s int he past, but I won't
score ya this time . . .

Can't fault the production &mdash 04/21/05 - 08:26:59 AM
I somewhat agree here. This song screams out for subtlety. You basically
dedicated it to anyone who have ever died...ever. It's not that I hate religious
music or even religious rap - one of my favourite tunes is actually a christian
rapsong - but it should be done without overly preaching.

But top notch production (if anything it does complement the sentimentality).
Peace out!

Pushing off from Troy &mdash 04/20/05 - 01:59:58 PM
As a human being, I wonder exactly what "We are so much more than the human race" means. I'd rather have most of us live UP TO the human race, potentially speaking. Even though this is a very well done rap, much better than most (less violence language, although violence is a key to the reason to ask why; less victimization, although there is still that heavy woe is me from the neighbor going on), my favorite line is "Forgive me for my sins." I think this is more about man/woman than God/human or black/white, though: Passionate man gets caught up in artistic expression, angst and chain-bending, stuff happens, and then the beautiful woman heals it all with her nurturing and childbearing. The kid deserves the grammy, what a refreshing sound: laughter. Rap is almost becoming an art form here. You guys have talent.

Pushing off from SpasmodicMan &mdash 04/21/05 - 08:31:54 AM
Very interesting and thoughtful interpretation by SpasmodicMan, but I don't
think this song can be reduced to just man/woman alone. The line "more
than the human race" is in the song. What does that mean? How about "more
than matter?" This song is about Spirit, and ultimately about love. God's love
in us. That is my take. Again, a wonderful song, even if, as Troy has pointed
out, it is over the top at times. There are worse things.

Pushing off from SpasmodicMan &mdash 04/22/05 - 07:58:56 AM
I'm glad that all these points are made both for and against. Great lyric
delivery; excellent production; as vibe it's sort of up there with Tupac's "Dear
Mama" and other pieces of emo hip ho (hey! I've just created a new genre!).
But personally too I find the sentiment too all-embracing
to mean anything to me. It's not just that there's too much - it's just that it's
undefined. It's just a general sense of violent death. And despite my folksy
stuff I post here, I'm a major hip hop head. But the sheer quality of this work
means that anything else I see here by spot is a definite MJ must-listen.

This really sounds fantastic. Professional.

But, eh, I'm with some of the commenters on how you're
overdoing an obvious point. Your intentions are sincere,
true, but the execution is not exactly subtle.

Reggea shining through &mdash 04/23/05 - 10:54:40 AM
I had a hard time understaning all the rapped words. I know they must be cool, considering all the comments and fans, and wish I could. And its even still early in the day. My favorite part is the reggae. Without that section, it would not have shined.

I resist this type of music, but this one was really well put
together in every way--very tasteful, a little saccharine at
times, but hey, you can't always be dark when you're
serious--the heart is definitely in the right place and
POSITIVE--which I will always make allowances for!
BravO! I'd say this one is "Spot ON!"

I am humbled. . . which is not saying ALL that much considering I'm about
as new as they come with regard to production, but yea. . for what its
worth the sound was so clean and. . . luminous. I felt like carribean
beaches and angels. Now im just babbling, but great job.
