Description
My interpretation of Mystified's "Tristezza". The challenge here was to create this interpretation without losing the soul that Mystified put into it. Thank you, Cat, for allowing me to cradle this tenderly. I didn't realize what a challenge I was embarking upon! What an amazingly beautiful song you've written. Even after countless hours working on the remix, I'm still humbled by it's power.
From Mystified:
"When Miss Chaos approached me on doing a remix of Tristezza I was, to say the very least, hesitant. The song had been a very personal composition, and when I posted it, it was—for all intents and purposes—finished.
But upon discovering more about what Miss Chaos wanted to do with the remix, and upon hearing a preliminary sample, I was impressed at the new depth and the breadth that her additions added to the piece. The illumination of certain chords. A chiaroscuro-type of feeling and expression that went beyond the pure voice.
It is a different sound, and very different from the original. Expanded. In some ways darker. In other ways brighter. I am grateful for her offer to further explore this piece, and especially grateful for the sensitivity and care with which she has approached this remix."

But you both turn me on.
I liked the original a lot, have been amazed at how much
meaning has been squeezed out of a couple dozen words.
In the end, I dig the original more, but if honesty is to
prevail have to admit I am more apt to come back to
something like this more often.
It loses the complex innocence of the original and picks
up a more worldly (beat) perspective.
From my perspective, and in terms others can understand,
this song isn't a virgin anymore. Good stuff. Love it.
Thanks.
