Description:
I was in Washinton d.c at the Vietnam war memorial mourning over the thousands of names when one really stoood out. Mr. Sadberry. This is his story by me.

Lyrics:
Its been a long day at work and i cannot go home. I spoke to my wife as she sits all alone. Been a year 6months 2 days an hour ago. The things i fight for no one ever knows.

Sometimes you gotta stand up straight
Sometimes cant hesitate
Sometimes you gotta believe
Sometimes you just cant see it

this song is for you daniel you were a saint.
you answered the call to war with no complaint. SOmetimes we are asked to do something else more
In pain In death life will hold good things im sure.

Really nice &mdash 04/27/05 - 08:24:20 PM
Glad to hear another new song from you , Ete. Great
song. The melody and lyrics really work for me, and your
singing is just superb. This has a nice Beatles-esc vibe to
it. Really nice. The production could use some work
though. The main guitar sounds too muddy and the vocal
track is picking up a lot of computer hardware noise. You
have some really nice touches in there. It could be
recorded and mixed better for sure. I think you have a
really solid song and the performing skills to work with.

Overall, a really enjoyable song, but I think improvements
in the recording and mixing could make it much better.

I agree with pg! &mdash 04/28/05 - 06:35:45 AM
However, the vocals and the song writing are solid enough that any production issues are not really an issue for me.

I really liked the passion in the ending. Solid performance!

DL/8s!

Not sure &mdash 04/28/05 - 06:49:37 AM
what to make of this song. Excellent vocals as usual, Ete.
Maybe it is the production that seems off. I thought I
heard birds chirping in the middle of this, or outdoor
sounds, but at such a low level I didn;t know what it was.
Maybe pgreenstone is right, computer noise? And while I
think the screaming vocal at the end is ok, I don;t think I
like the filter you put on your voice. These are nit-picky.
My larger issue, I guess, is Daniel Sadberry's story. I don;t
think I got it in your song. I think in a piece like this, with
a real person;s name, you need more than lines like
"answered the call to war with no complaint." Did he? I
don;t know. Okay, enough rambling. I'm really trying to
figure out where this missed the mark for me...it could be
me!

No problems &mdash 04/30/05 - 11:22:35 PM
I didn't have any problems with this one at all.

There's a kind of Rubber Soul/Revolver feel to it that I
liked and sometimes, leaving a bit of enigma to the story
adds to that feel.

voice really sounds nice &mdash 05/02/05 - 03:03:37 PM
Like that english sound in your voice.
Being a viet nam veteran, this song has a special feeling to
me. Not sure if I liked the harsh ending but you sure have a
nice sounding voice for the most part.

Good melody and thoughtful lyrics... the production
sounded OK to me, but I have crappy headphones
and I am usually not too picky about production
issues. I thought the low-fi singing at the end was
cool, actually. It added a level of detachment... like
Daniel was singing to his wife over the phone from
far away...

Great song, it is one of my favorites that I have heard of this site. Great vocals and a very sad feel to the song. Very nice.
