Description:
another one...

Lyrics:
soon as the words were spoken,
they were commited to the sea...
-names in the wake of
some uncertain science
litter history and the darker earth
beneath my feet,
the lines and zones
divide and retreat to poles

and disassemble the shapes
that i've known...
into these plates and pieces
that break for no reason...

-just crushed/by the weight of the world...

when to stop... &mdash 05/04/05 - 02:58:53 PM
Another very nice, song. Enigmatic, and brief. When to stop is a big thing with you isn't it? I like that.

Why no photo for this piece? Beautiful work again jonx. As I have said before, these songs are not, NOT, too short. They are small jewels. No time wasted. I would give this high marks if I could vote...

Again &mdash 05/04/05 - 10:39:35 PM
Extremely good song and performance. Interesting concept for lyrics, poetic and well delivered. I'm one of the people who would like to hear this and some of your other songs go on longer. Certainly not bad at this length, but it leaves me feeling like it was about to give me something more but then just ends.

In any case, it's a wonderful song all around. A download for me.

Well Done &mdash 05/05/05 - 04:38:32 AM
Excellent song and performance. I can see the pros of either keeping it as it is or expanding it. Regardless, it's very well done.

This is ridiculous &mdash 05/08/05 - 05:21:34 PM
I think you could sing the alphabet song and make it
sound original and cool. This is beyond me to critique- so
I will only listen and admire!

1/3 of a great song &mdash 05/09/05 - 06:46:46 AM
Your poetry songs are so well crafted, so focused and
contained, so well performed. My personal feeling is that
many of them, including this one, are so short I feel as if I
have listened to a song concept and not a completed track
when it stops playing. Some people comment that it is
great to, leave them wanting more. I would rather feel
fulfilled. This song is 1/3 as long as I would like to hear.
You could double everything here, create more lyrics to
develop your idea, and include a bridge that would
devastate with its power, and have a masterpiece.

1/3 of a great song &mdash 05/11/05 - 05:31:34 PM
I think a song is over when it's over. Why not do what I do with They Might Be Giants' short songs - play them again?

Make sure you let us know when the CD is out, JonX.

Plate tectonics &mdash 05/09/05 - 07:17:04 AM
Lyrically, you're work is just above and beyond. All aspects
of the song are superb. Length issues aside, I could digest
and ponder many fascinating tangents of what you're
saying over many plays of this delightful song! Thanks

Yes &mdash 05/10/05 - 06:04:59 AM
Yes, poetic. Yes, well done. Yes, prefer it longer. Yes,
gives impression of song idea and not complete song due
to length. Yes, I want more! Yes, you are special.

Mmm-more &mdash 05/11/05 - 05:22:01 AM
I agree that this is a great song, or part of a song, and
would like it to go longer. Since it doesn't, I'll just listen
to another one of yours from your list, which is the next
best thing!

Comes to mind immediately.

More rave reviews from me too. Really polished and radio
ready.

Yeah, Coldplay invented pop music... :S

Your voice reminds me of Cat Stevens... pretty good voice, yes... :)

Refreshing and soothing &mdash 11/04/05 - 02:28:58 AM
I personally like the short length of the song, although I would have loved
to hear more musical interludes. The repeating keyboard pattern is
beautiful, and I was left wanting more. I think of "The Ghost in You" from
P Furs. You are left wanting more, and that is waht you want from a song.
Job well done.

Sumptuous production &mdash 12/04/05 - 12:20:13 AM
Sounds a bit like Del Amitri and yes it is too short. But I kind of like it like
that. Makes it almost enigmatic.

Maybe if we put three of your songs together we get a "whole" one...?

small but perfectly formed...
