Lyrics:
He looks so sweet and innocent in the early morning sun
Johnny went to school today with an automatic gun
Do you think the teacher knows what's hiding under Johnny's clothes?
Is it just for show and tell or is he gonna give 'em hell

Stanley Kendrick lost his job at the automated plant
They sent his job to Mexico with a governmental grant
(He's gonna be a famous man. Don't tell 'em that he can't)
He won't let his judgment cloud the anger that he feels today
He's got a truck, he's got a plan, and he's gonna make 'em pay

I don't know what you been told, but it seems we've lost a lotta soul
Ain't no way that five six seven's gonna get us into heaven
You don't know what I've been told but you gotta crawl out of that hole
I don't think you're quite awake
Start thinkin' now for your own sake
Brother, here we go again
Lux aeturnum requiem

The headlights on the highway
Cast an unrelenting glare
I think the world is crippled but I know I shouldn't stare
John and Stan won't even meet 'til later in the day
The editors will have to choose at USA Today

Mama has a jar of pills with a child protective cap
She know that drugs are bad for you but she needs to take a nap
The telephone is ringing but the price is way too steep

She'll never know what Johnny did, cause Mama's fast asleep

You don't know what I been told but it seems we've lost a lotta soul
Ain't no way that five six seven's gonna get us into heaven
I don't know what you've been told but you gotta come in from the cold
I don't think you understand
Start thinkin' 'bout your fellow man
Brother, here we go again
Pax aeturnum requiem

The headlights on the highway
Cast an unrelenting glare
I think the world's on crutches and it's really hard to care
John and Stan won't even meet 'til later in the day
The editors will have to choose at USA Today

Reminds me of Tull (a lot) &mdash 05/07/05 - 08:41:25 AM
Great arrangements. I love the organ/acoustc guitar combination. The song is very solid. Reminds me a lot of Jethro Tull. Good singing voice. If you plan to work it more out, don't overdo it because it's quite unique already!

Thank you so much. Tull is one of my favorite bands.

We're hoping the lyrics aren't too contrived or preachy or offensive. I think
the groove turned out real nice.

The lead guitar was generously provided by a semi-famous working
professional. I'll ask him if we can mention his name . . . I love his addition to
the track.

lyrics are just GREAT and intelligent! &mdash 05/17/05 - 04:04:32 PM
Remember these words: "Nothing you can sing that can't be
sung"
(seems to me that in the US there's too much self-regulating
censorship) You can sing or say what you want. Words are
just words! All those beeps should be censored!

By the way, here's a mission: More of these songs!

Nice acoustic strumming variations &mdash 06/17/05 - 07:41:34 AM
I especially like your use of harmonics, the variations you
bring to your acoustic guitar playing. Nice balanced lines,
clever phrasing, and wonderful use of rhymes. Tough
subject matter, but you gave it a sort of Me & Julio Down
By The Schoolyard sort of thing, altho the use of first
person in Paul Simon's song took the preachiness out of
it. Very solid writing and solid performances.
