Description:
this is about as radio friendly as we get...except that most radio songs don't have bass solos.
Lyrics:
i walk out the doorhit the heavy air
tompkins square is awake after a winter
of dormant dreaming
of silent sleeping
waiting for spring
now there’s people everywhere
go ahead and stare
no one seems to care about
what you think anyway
girls in long skirts
guys with guitars
trying to sing
oh, i always knew i’d be here someday
sleeping on the grass on this perfect day
i think that i could spend my life this way
try it to the left
just a little bit more
good, now just a little bit higher
the kinks in my back
are ready to crack
at the will of your hands
you try to do your part
you suffer your art – well,
i laugh cause you’re such a good martyr
you’re such a good friend sometimes
and sometimes not
oh, i always knew we’d be here someday
sleeping on the grass on this perfect day
i think that i could spend my life this way
i could spend my life this way
the sun begins to dip just a little bit
damn, i hoped it would never be over
the dream awaking
the fever breaking
we’re losing the light
i begin to speak
you stop me and say your favorite time of day
is right before sundown
the golden hour when we change and shower
and welcome the night
oh...

...are a bastard. I mean that in a good way because it sounds like being good comes naturally to you. lol
Excellent tune. Very professional.
twonicus
many thanks my doofy friend, i can't take all the credit for this one, it
mostly belongs to the pianist and the singer.

Oo, this is a new version, new arrangement. Really like a
addition of the violin. Very nice bass playing, love the
sparseness of the mix that lets the bass line come
through, and a bass solo too. The opening piano riff is
such a great motif, like the announcement of a classic; the
chord progression is infectious alt pop, so sweet and
melancholy and yet drives and keeps unfolding. Great
ending. I love the kicker line "...and sometimes not." That
takes the lyrics away from cheesy and makes them real. A
mainstream hit with inventive moments. Great track.
tune here. I see it runs in the family. I'd love to hear this
one with sum back and forth (male/female) exchanges on
the vocals. Almost sounds like it was written to be a duet.
Geesh. Holidays must be a blast at yer house with all that
talent getting together at once. Thanks for sharing your
music here.
TennesseeVic
why you would think is not totally radio-friendly. Even the
bass solo is just 4 lines, basically just grooving a bit
higher up the neck.
But this is a good tune, great singing and playing, perfect
mix. Now go out and get rich!

So good. Wow. I agree that more vocals back and forths
would be good. I am off to check out your other stuff!

This is fantastic. I am always drawn to pop with a strong
piano presence in it. This is a great tune -- haunting in
some parts, powerfully driving in others, excellent mix of
instruments.

you guys are real good.
Nice stuff.
Keep the good work.

Nice work - wonderful pacing, with excellent spacing between the lines. As a listener, I would like to hear the park itself revealed with an extended instrumental portrait, say, sometime before the sun begins to dip and the magic of the day begins to slip away, yet I recognize this might conflict with delivering a radio-friendly song.

And I'm not just saying that because I'm a former bass player. Excellent song. Very professional sound. Well written.
This is really good. I've listened to your other postings and this is head and tails above those

Love the arrangement, melody... Your singer is most
tasty. What tone! A great Sunday afternoon song. I think
people will really be able to relate to the sentiment in the
song. I dig it! Solid!
Nice bass solo.

I Just love the vocals. Beautiful tone on the voice, the
phrasing.. the mix, it's sparkling! Very nice. Love the piano
playing, the bass, drums and violin too. Though I don't like
the song and the harmonies(too much pop for my taste), the
arrangement and lyrics are excellent

This is really Production material. Very nice song. I wish I
could write like that.

You guys seem to be making a habit of putting together
exceptional work. I often times find myself with a loss for
words when I hear that everything about a piece is "right
on", so we'll just leave it at that. Right On! Cydniko
The best pop song I've seen here so far. Love it, keep up the awesome work.

I really enjoyed listening to this song. Thank you for creating
it. Nicely done.

Really this is a terrific. well-writen song. Like the piano, violin, bass,
vocals--everything. It very much captures the mood of those perfect
days we all get to experience ever so often. Thanks.

I'm with Emily. You guys on i tunes? this is scary good. so familiar, so unique. so well produced.

I like the chorus in particular. This song has strong, interesting, high quality vocals. They play subtly with rhythms. At times the piano seems to compete a little with the vocals. I kind of wanted the drums and bass to move me into a groove more too. But these are very small nits in perspective to the beauty and enjoyability of the song. Well done.
