Description:
This song is dedicated to Dorothy M. Jackson 1929 - 1990. I love you, Mama.

Lyrics:
I wanna thank you Mama
For all the things that you have done, well
I wanna thank you Mama
For spreading all of your love, hey
I wanna thank you Mama
For all the things that you have done
I wanna thank you Mama
For spreading all of your love, hey

The very first teacher I had taught me to love somebody
Taught me everything I need to know to make it thru hard times
That's my Mama for ya (always thinking about somebody)
That's my Mama for ya (let me tell you a little something 'bout my Mama)
I saw her one night as she knelt down to pray (begging our Father)
To give her the strength to carry on
Especially now that Daddy's gone
That's my Mama for ya
If ever I'm feeling low, low
That's my Mama for ya
Mama I love you so

I wanna thank you Mama
For all the things that you have done, well
I wanna thank you Mama
For spreading all of your love, hey
I wanna thank you Mama
For all the things that you have done
I wanna thank you Mama
For spreading all of your love, hey

I remember growing up
I gave you a lot of flack
But you didn't take no lip from me
You put a strapping to my back
That's what you did and
I wanna thank you Mama
For all the discipline you gave to me
For all the values I possess you see
You taught me how to reach for the sky
Said whatever I do always aim high
Took me from a boy to a man
Believe you me Mama, now I understand
If ever I'm feeling low, low
Mama I love you so

I wanna thank you Mama
For all the things that you have done, well
I wanna thank you Mama
For spreading all of your love, hey
I wanna thank you Mama
For all the things that you have done
I wanna thank you Mama
For spreading all of your love, hey

Mama you mi love and Mama you mi need
Oh Mama you're lovely indeed
Mama you mi love and Mama you mi need
Oh Mama you're lovely indeed
Mama you mi love and Mama you mi need
Oh Mama you're lovely indeed
Mama you mi love and Mama you mi need
Oh Mama you're lovely indeed

Take me back! &mdash 05/10/05 - 12:37:57 PM
What a wonderful tribute to your mom. You guys (I
assume there are several) are putting up some of the
tightest, harmonic vocals! And that groovin' rhythm...
you got me dancing at my desk. Your songs like this
one and the 12th of Never take me back to that era
when motown and soul were king. Especially
reminds me of the Philly sound from the sixties and
seventies (Styistics, Delphonics, etc.).

Take me back! &mdash 05/10/05 - 12:42:02 PM
Actually all of the vocals are done by me. I do have a music partner, though.
We usually co-write the music and lyrics and I do all of the vocals. Thank you
for the compliment. I love this site because of it's sense of community. Long
live MacJams!!!

You are a great group &mdash 05/10/05 - 01:02:50 PM
So solid. Great sound. The real highlight, for me, are
your backing vocals. So tight, so silky, so perfect. Great
Motown feel. Stays steady and even, which is very retro,
but I would still have liked more difference in the audio
variations, in my modern ears. It takes too long to get to
that great bridge about 2/3s in when you "boom-shi-
boom" it. Very cool track. Your Mama done good. So are
you.

Fantastic! &mdash 05/10/05 - 06:24:09 PM
R&B is not my usual groove but I loved this. I figured you
did all the vocals. Really tight. Forget the contrite
American Idol Junk! This is true, for the love of music
singing!

Thank you very much. If you really feel something, it doesn't matter what
genre it is. I really appreciate your feedback. Thank you again.

Another great production. &mdash 05/11/05 - 12:11:52 PM
This is so professional sounding. Your voice reminds me of Aaron Neville a bit, not really in the sound so much but more in your phrasing. I love the reggae-flavored groove. Yours is the only R&B I listen to!

We share a common thread, with the loss of
someone so dear to our heart. Fitting tribute!

Nice Voice &mdash 08/29/05 - 09:59:20 PM
This takes me back to 1975 in Jackson Mississippi. Touching. That was tight.

Flotown &mdash 12/15/06 - 02:11:45 AM
Oh yes. You got rhythm and soul. Takes me back to some of my old LPs -- Dee Clark (You're Looking Good), Les Cooper, The Ink Spots, The Temptations, and Ben E. King/The Drifters. This is the real deal. Let's all thank Mama for this one.

This is a great song. It's ready for prime time. I agree with Dadai - Philly sound all the way. A
