Salon owner in Atlanta, Georgia. I've been here for about 7 years, having come to Atlanta to attend graduate school at Emory University. After deciding an academic career would not be satisfying in the long run, I opted to do something totally different and fun -- and now I own a small boutique salon right in the heart of the city -- and I love it! Music has been integral -- namely singing -- since I was a teenager. Now, I'm *slowly* learning to record, produce and write my own stuff.

Music Background I took piano lessons for a couple of years around the age of seven. I hated it, so I quit -- but I wish I hadn't. I've been singing seriously since I was in high school. In college I studied classical voice, picked back up the piano and learned how to play the guitar. Just out of college I sent some audition material to Roger Breland -- the founder of the now-disbanded Christian group TRUTH. Through that connection, I was able to work and sing with a couple of different groups traveling nationally and internationally, singing mostly in churches. After being on the road for a while, I went to grad school, then became a stylist and now a salon owner. In the meantime, I've been slowly putting together a modest home studio and playing around with arranging, recording, producing, and some writing. It's a BIG learning curve for me as I have no real background in audio technology or production techniques. I've been learning the past year, playing around, experimenting and re-making songs I love and attempting to write my own material. My musical influences are varied, as are most. But I consider the following highly influential in my current work: First, a myriad of singers from the contemporary Christian genre, as that was my main focus for years, including my work as a professional singer; namely the groups TRUTH and Avalon. The sounds of the church are undoubtedly in my music, even songs that have no overt religious meaning. Some of my favorite singers/groups over the years have been the aforementioned (I still listen to them!), Stevie Nicks, the B-52's, Marc Broussard, Beyonce, etc. . . . Most recently I am enjoying the sounds of Deadmau5, School of Seven Bells, Imogen Heap and Florence + the Machine. I love high church music, gospel, and electronic genres -- I think they all appear in my music somewhere or other (to differing degrees) -- including my interpretations of other's work. I don't think I've found *my* sound just yet, but I call it a sort of gospel-infused electro-pop. Lots to learn, but I'm having fun.
