New acoustic guitar
Saturday, December 23 2017 @ 04:37 PM CST

I'm vaguely looking at buying a new guitar. I want a steel strung acoustic with a rich, resonant tone and a reasonably wide nut. I've been looking at a Martin DCPA4 and a Seagull Peppino D'Agostino signature model. I'm looking at a top price of $1500 USD. Any thoughts on these or any other suggestions?

Much appreciated.

I think a Taylor 314ce would have a reasonably wide nut. Not as wide as some of the "almost classical" widths like some of the 12 fret necks, but a pretty fast, wide and comfortable neck anyway.

Takamine has a great catalogue of quality acoustic guitars. I've played the Peppino model and heard him play it live several times before... I don't think you could go wrong with that.

For your price tag, you may be able to find a Maton somewhere. It's Tommy Emmanuel's brand of choice and they make excellent guitars.
