Ah, the Golden earring, one of the most famous bands in my country, the band exists for more than 50 years now and they still play gigs.

In the 80s they briefly experimented with becoming a quintet, hiring Robert Jan Stips on keys and Eelco Gelling (?going by memory here?) on 2nd guitar. The latter combo had a song Bombay/Marakesh/Calcutta/something-in-the-east that I thought was promising. But being a power quartet (?) worked out best for them.

They were also one of the very few Dutch bands to have a major hit in the US. Shocking Blue being of course (just about the only) other with Venus. Oh, wait. Focus, Hocus Pocus.

one of the first bands I played with covered Radar Love. It was one of my favorites to play.
