Alright - this is getting nice and weird with all the Pirate talk.
On a more sober note - it occurred to me while reading the rules and listening to the loops that perhaps one of the charms of this round is the opportunity to bury/hide the loot - er - loop or loops of choice so as to make finding them more challenging. Why, even the Pirate reference could be obscure and difficult to parse out.
Pirates bein' the sly divils they arrrr.

Aye, we're talkin' buried treasure fer sure. Yer chanty ought be a map o' sorts. Don' let 'em plunder yer booty wi'out a struggle. If ye ply 'em with lots o' musical rum, they'll be hummin' yer tune and missin' yer clues. 'at'll stagger 'em lan'lubbers, an' more pieces' o' eight fer us!

does the song really have to be recognizable? kind of takes some of the fun out of it.

Well, since there's no prize, I don't see how anyone could be disqualified for "bending the rules" I say have fun and don't worry about it.

Edit: I guess we should try to adhere to the rules, or it'll be totally chaos. I've been struggling with this too - I'm thinking of a "cheat" by opening with an obvious quote (maybe even use WireTap to grab the MIDI sounds) right in the beginning and then just go off on a tangent from there....

It only needs to be enough like the original that someone could figure out which one it was. The songs are all rather different from each other, so just a hint should be good enough.

I kinda understand it that some element (loop) should be able to be traced back to one of the songs - but maybe part of a bass line or something. My two cents.

It's better to regret something you have done, than something you haven't done.

Please refer to the LIOLI6 Official Rules. There is no mention of anything other than the single word "pirate" anywhere within said document. Any possible litigation is therefore baseless and without merit.
