Midwinter Night's Fury

I wrote this piece in '92 for a composition class. I think I was using Finale at the time. Then I programmed an arrangement in Cakewalk using a Korg 05R/W sound module. I never had a decent recording of it though and it was just sitting in my old PC, so I revived it. I recorded and mastered this arrangement in GarageBand and added a few GB software synths from the original MIDI file.

Nice composition...
I enjoyed the music a lot, nice little snippets of J.S. Bach-
like melodies and progressions... with an Oldfield-esque
synth arrangement and some more modern harmonies
here and there. My critiques would be that this does need
to be totally remastered with much better sounding (and
maybe wider variety of) instruments and EQ. Overall, the
piece sounded rather tinny to me, very little bass (I don't
know if you didn't write any bassline, or if the synths were
just pitched too high.) But I think if you did some
tweaking, this could be quite spectacular... it is already on
its way!

Crystalline sounds and wonderful use of organ. Even with
the occasional synth layers, it could still be a solo piece
using innovative stops and a Rick Wakeman setup,
retaining the intimate feel. Very nice audio variations.

Really nice piece .... lovely melody. It's strong and lively
but still has a melancholy feel to it, which is lovely. I
enjoyed this very much.
